I received an 89.8 which was rounded DOWN to an 89. Now i do understand that theoretically speaking, that is technically a B+. However, this teacher gave me an F in participation as well as a majority of the class. To make it worse, participation was worth 50 pts for the semester. Losing 25 pts just for participation was one reason i got the 89.8 From what I heard, participation ISNT even allowed by our school district to be included in the grade.

She grades participation on how she feels and she could have easily given me just enough points for me to get a B.

There were some kids in my situation who received the A

She says she doesnt give extra credit, however some ppl were aloud to get 110% on the biggest presentation, and they weren't even that great, they were just the people she liked.There was also another person who presented, who has NO relevant info, but she still gave her an A, while she docked 10 points out of 100 to my classmate (male) for not answering one question righ

to some people (like me)

A = average
B - F = fail
...
im in his class and got the A- with a 90.8 i participated over half of the possible ways to participate and got 20/50 in participation and a 150/200 on my presentation... I mainly was able to keep an A by sucking up to her the last few days and nailing the final with a 97%.

This all really depends on what grade you're in. If you're in 9th grade or lower, as long as your parents aren't upset you're fine. If you're in 10th, 11th, or 12th and plan on going to a good college, a B here and there might cost you entry to the school you want to get into. If you're in college, don't worry though. Remember, High School sucks, and the teachers can do whatever they want (thank tenure for that).Teachers pets always get better grades in participation and all that b.s. In high school you have to do the homework, show up, and participate to get a good grade. It's made so stupid people can still get good grades even though they fail the tests, unlike the college environment where it's the exact opposite.

In my school, even 90 was not an A. A's started at 94%. You should be happy with a B. B's are good grades. You should have more respect for your teacher. She has many years of training and probably of experience. I hope you don't go through school questioning every grade you receive. You will just end up being upset and bitter.

You need to ask her, in a nice way, if there's some extra work you can do to kick up the grade. Don't mention that the school district doesn't allow... If she says no, it's carved in stone. Take it as a lesson well learned, and try to participate better in the future.

What did her guidelines in the beginning of the class say? Also, if others are getting an A- with an 89.8 and your not; that's not fair. I would bring it up with the principal, the teacher, and your parents.

After reading what you wrote I think you need to grow up and accept your B+. I can understand you being upset that you didn't get an A- but the crap about you receiving anything below an A as a failure just telling me you may have some serious psychological issues. Get a grip one B+ is not going to stop you from achieving everything you want in life.

Good Luck!!!
