When you're reading an ad in the paper or online about a car, and the seller says "has an engine knock." What does that mean?

Before buying any "pre-owned" auto, if you see it and like it, take it to the mechanic you will be using and have him check it over. (About $100.)
In this case, tell him about the 'knock`, and ask what correction is necessary.
It's cheap insurance and a negotiating tool.

The engine makes a knocking noise at some driving situation. I don't suggest getting a knocking car unless you take an independent car mechanic with you, who could get to know how expensive the knock would be to repair, since it can be a small problem or a huge one.

It means DO NOT BUY THE CAR !!!! Engine knock is when the main bearings or the rod bearings let go and the con rods rattle around..... In short a junk engine.

It means the engine will not last long! Don't buy that car. You will spend alot of money fixing it!

that means when your driving a you will hear a knocking noise or a thud kinda noise dont buy a vehicle with a knock that could be bad

it means you dont want it unless you want to have to put money into it.depending on what car type youre looking for youll be able to find something better.i wouldnt buy it unless you are willing to put quite a bit of money into it.

Means in my terms....dont buy it. Might be somthing simple.
If it was simple, then why havent they fixed it?
Look at another car....not worth the risk

It means you do not want to buy this car.
It can be a small or a huge problem. Why would you take a chance?
