several times did so many tests its not pink eye which when i went to my walk in clinic on the weekend they said it was and gave me the prescription, that didnt help so i saw my general practiciouner and he said thats no pink eye why did they prescribe those meds.

Basically he said that in my R.E.M. stages of sleep that my eyes may not be shutting all the way. he did a test where he stuck these paper things on my eye ball and measured the amount of water my eyes produce and yes my left eye is doesnt produce as much so there for it dries out and i need to go to sleep with this clear crap in my eye every night. has this happend to anyone and will it go away?

Restasis perscribed by your doctor will take up to a month to start working, but the exact same thing happened to me!!!

I had no idea i had dry eye!!

The doctor I had was very kind, and gave me a lot of information, and I looked up dry eye on the google.

I was also given 5 different samples of Lubercating eye drops to use to find out which one I like best.

I like Systane. I use it about 4 times a day to keep my eyes moisturized.

*I wear protective sun Glasses to keep the wind out of my eyes.

I'm glad you Doctor did that painful test, it's frightening!!!
BUT, now you know, and you will treat it like the rest of us with dry eye do.

YOU are NOT alone!
There are a ton of over the counter Lubercating eye drops, and gels, and ones made especially for the night time.

I wish you the best of luck finding the right treatment for you.
*I personally had to call my doctor back 2 times and ask more questions, cuz i was in such a state of shock when I had those paper things stuck in my eyes!!!

The more you ask, the more you will know.
*Do avoid eye drops with Red-out for the eyes, it will only make our condition worse! they are called astringents, or alchohol. So read the labels.
AND best of luck.

yes, you will need to use what the doctor perscribed.
*Do ask the doctor if there are any other alternatives or medicines you can use.

protect your eyes from the wind and sun, and drink plenty of water.

So Sorry this has happened to you.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
*the drops in your eyes will do wonders, give them 4-5 weeks!
*call your Dr. and ask a lot of questions, I did and it helped me to relax!!

I feel for you!

dry eye is a hereditary condition, if you can imagine, I had that test with the paper, and the paper never got wet for either eye, they had to put drops in to unstick the paper from my eye lids. No, sadly, it never goes away. But, there are eye drops that can help alot, they are called Restasis, ask your doctor about them.
