The reason I think its a hairball is because I have another dog thats American Eskimo that sheds a lot. They play constantly and I have on many a occasion taken hair out of my dogs mouth while they were playing.I am on disability and have limited income, theres no one that has more love for their pets or treat their pets as well as I do mine . If I had the hundreds of dollars to do the tests I would but since I dont and I have good reason to believe its a hairball why not at least try to treat that first to see especially since its my only option since I cant afford the tests.

I read online that Crisco, mayonnaise and butter all help cats with hairballs. You could try feeding your dog some Crisco or butter. There are also cat hairball products that are petrolatum based. All of these things coat the hair in the stomach and intestines and help the animal pass the hair. With the over the counter cat hairball remedies, you have to give the animal the medicine for 2-3 days, so I'm assuming you'd have to give the butter or Crisco to the dog for a couple of days. This is probably good, because the butter would have calories in it and the dog needs that. But it's about certain the dog is going to throw up or have nasty diarrhea for eating a clump of butter.

Also, at the pet supply store, they have cat hairball stuff like a "lick stick" you get the animal to lick. It's the same idea. I couldn't find anywhere where it says how much butter to give the animal. Good luck.

Regarding the first answer: you haven't got TIME to wait 2-3 days to see if hairball medication might work!!

As I've explained, you're probably wasting your time trying to treat for a hairball when you could be treating symptomatically i.e for the constipation, not eating and the presumable dehydration!

As I've said: please ask your vet for the cheapest treatment option. You asked the first question a while ago, your dog must be running out of time by now! I really would lose the whole hairball idea, because hairball or not, the dog must be in need of emergency treatment by now!

EDIT: Have a good read of the last answer on your original question, by Karen A. Then it's time to leave the computer alone because it can't help your dog - but a vet can.

Because dogs have a digestive system that will almost digest anything...i mean dogs can even digest cats so what does that tell you? i once saw my brothers dog eat an entire wooden leg off of a chair and then one day my mom left some hot salsa made with some habenero peppers and the dog ate the whole bowl and made my mom mad but over the next three days the dog had to live outside because he was tootin' everywhere.
