WAX IT RIGHT AWAY!
As long as you wax it and keep it clear you should be good!
As far as interior make sure if it is leather you condition it once in a while if it is cloth just keep it clean!
It you put something like monster mats down you will protect it even more!
DON"T EVER BRING YOU CAR THOUGH A CAR WASH WITH BRUSHES OF ANY KINDA! This will help to keep scratches out of your car. BEWARE OF ALL CAR WASHES EVEN IF THEY DON'T HAVE BRUSHES. They can fling rocks and such off the ground onto your paint.
It is a car... it will get scratches but you can prevent some of them!
Good Luck with your GTI! You will grow to love it!

Wax your clear coat. It gives the paint job an extra layer of protection and actually helps to keep your car cleaner so you'll wash it less. You can armor all the interior and gloss the tires, if you like that look.

When washing find any nibs impurity's dirt that are in the paint either knock them down with clay bar and quick detailer. Or carefully 1,500 grit wet sand and rubbing compound. Look when the car was produced date on drivers door jamb. 6 months the paint is completely cured. Then wax the heck out of it. Rolls Royce motor car owners club endorse a leather conditioning cleaning products www.Leatherique.com good on vinyl too. I use armor-all tire shine keep tires from turning brown. Try to do all the sprays before you show your car at the car shows. At the show try to spray to cloth and dust. Wind will blow your detailer all over my clean windows. (I hate cleaning windows) they have to sparkle on both sides.

I would handwash it for awhile. Dont take it to carwashs because the rollers and such arent gentle on the paint sometimes. Use soft towels and make sure they are damp or wet because dry towels are what cause swirl marks on the paint of cars. That means when drying too. Dont dry with a completely dry towel. As for exact products I dontknow any names but what said above should be pretty affect.

The best way to preserve your clearcoat is to park it in a garage or carport. If this is not possible, use a *quality* wax such as Meguire's paste wax (not the cheap brands) and park in the shade and/or use a car cover. Clearcoats just don't last.

My suggestion to you is to use the "Stoner" cleaning products. waxing and cleaning your car will help alot. dont let dirt sit on it though because the dirt can actually move the clear coat aside and make little divots in your paint.also when wiping your car down make sure you dont do it dry because even the smallest particles will scratch your paint.stoner also makes tire shine and it doesnt protect it just makes them look nice.you may also want to handwash it and be sure not to use armor all inside on your trim if you ever plan on refurbishing or painting it.

you should wax it every 3 to 4 months minimim, with a good wax,Meguirs,Zymol etc, this will help protect it from enivoromental damage like acid rain, foundry ash, bird poo,etc...if you live in the midwest,or a wintery climate, running through a touchless carwash and getting an underbody wash will help to,but keep it to a minimum, car washes are hard on the finish too.I don't like armor all myself, shiny dashes tend to reflect into the windshield which I don't like, for tires it just for looks

Wax it with good car wax, and avoid parking in a place where your car is constantly affected by falling stuff (leaves mostly), such as under a tree.
