herpes is something totally different. If you don't trust his past sexual experiences tell him wear a condom.
Am not sure if they test for herpes but doubt it as herpes is only spread through sexual contact. Though oral herpes (cold sores) are spread by kissing, it can also spread to the gentiles through oral sex. They test for HIV because of the drug problem that they have in jail.

Herpes is not the same as HIV. It's a totally different disease. Go to a doctor and get tested. By the way, herpes is not the end of the world. There are medications that can control it well. Good luck.

HIV and Herpes are 2 compeltely different STD's. County jails typically only check for HIV, because it is transferrable through blood (in case there was an accident in the jail they need to know who is a risk and who is not)
Also, If you are concerned you have contracted herpes, research it on www.cdc.gov (the Center for Disease Control) and see your OBGYN for a test.

They dont test you fro any kind of STD's in jail.....My friends have been locked up, and so have some people close to me. You get a general health inspection before your put in the general population. Unless he had a herpes outbreak in jail and got treated for it there, they dont have anything to do with your sexual health.
You need to go get yourself checked out. If this guy doesnt know the differance between herpes and HIV...someone needs to do some SERIOUS educating.

No, herpes is not HIV. The test for HIV does not look for herpes.
Don't be scared. If you think you have it (have you had an outbreak?) you can get a test.

When they test you for HIV thats what they are looking for. He needs to be checked for herpes specifically. I dont remember being checked for herpes when in jail.

HIV and herpes are totally different. Herpes is sores and bumps on the genitals and can also be oral. Herpes II that is. Herpes I is cold sores. HIV is where a virus attacks your immune system and eventually turns into AIDS.

Even if they did a full STD screen in the jail, it does not usually include a test for Herpes, since Herpes is not transmitted in the blood.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women.
