Sometimes a single room is a bit smaller than a double, but usually they are the same size. Just one has a single bed and the other two. The term Suites can mean many different things. Sometimes it's just a larger double room with a desk in it. Often it's a double room with a small sitting room attached. And then there are so many other types all the way to grand rooms larger than a house. To be honest there are no standards and hotels are allowed to make up the names as they go. It's the same with star rankings, there is no standard and any hotel can claim whatever they want. It's like that new hotel in Dubai which claims a seven star ranking, only problem is no one gave them to it. The hotel just made it up on there own.
