I got him from a bird store where he was hand fed. He is about 7 months old. I have tried putting the fruits and veggies in a bowl for him, but that isn't seeming to work and I've tried giving it to him when I'm holding him too.

Try clipping them to the inside of his cage. Cockatiels are famous for not wanting to try new foods. Keep trying and be patient. You can also put them in a bowl and sprinkle with millet seed--they may taste some of the new food when they go after the milltet (which they love).

What i did was chop FRUITS [safe ones] so it was like all liquid and pored it over his food [not drenching it just a drizzle here and their. You must clean and empty the bowl everyday.

just keep offering him the vegtables and fruits you can hang lettuce on cage with a plastic clothes pin. wash lettuce or greens with water to clean just shake excess water off.
