Nah, not so. Anyone can get dandruff, regardless of age.
Try a good dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue. If that doesn't work, see a dermatologist for prescription treatment.
If this is a new condition to her, she might want to have her thyroid checked. If thyroid hormones are off balance it can cause skin and hair symptoms among other things.

It might not be dandruff. Sometimes psoriasis can manifest on the scalp and cause flaking that looks like dandruff. Is her scalp red and itchy or just flaking? Red and itchy signifies something more like psoriasis, or even a fungal infection. She should definitely consult a doctor, because if it's that bad that nothing is working, it's probably caused by something other than what you'd think!

I agree it could be psoriasis. Dandruff can occur due to the temperature in which she washes her hair. She should be washing her hair in luke warm water. Hot water can cause dandruff. Nutragena T-gel shampoo works really well, she should masage it into her scalp and let sit for 10 minutes then wash out

anyone can suffer from dandruff (: its okay.maybe your mom should go see a doctor, but the best thing to do is to use a dandruff shampoo. if that doesn't work, you can buy this liquid that helps from keeping the scalp dry

Head & Shoulders or Biolage works really well.
one of my friends had a dandruff issue, but much less dandruff is arriving for using some of these products.
and you might want to see a hair stylist/doctor to advise you on what things to use on her scalp.

1st be thankful your mom has a great head of hair cause chances are so will you when your her age. 2nd Dandruff can occur at any age.. there is no age limit its not like acne.
Try Neutrogena T-Gel... or have her see a dermatologist.
