Now my hip is really bugging me. It feels like it's just not lined up right. I am training for a 10k and it has me running 6 days a week. Does anyone know what's going on with my hip? I don't want to skip any days. I have 10 mile run scheduled for today and I'm off tomorrow. Should I got to a Chiropractor Monday or Tuesday ? Or will it go away after my rest day tomorrow? Anyone have this problem before?

I had hip pain while training for a marathon. I iced whenever i finished running and stretched but it didnt seem to help, I only improved when I took a week or so off and did strengthening exercises.
The cause of my problem was the running surface I trained on, much of it was sloped or banked. It could also be the shoes you train in or if one leg is longer than the other.

Well, you ain't gonna like this, but you need to go to a sports medicine doctor and get the RIGHT answer. Stop running until you find and what's wrong and fix it. Too many times we try to run through injuries and it just takes a bigger toll on the body. After all, an injury is your body telling you it's overworked. There will be other 10ks.

Good Luck

What kind of shoes are you wearing and have you bought new ones? Running shoes are only supposed to last so many miles. Your arch may not be being supported properly causing misalignment through the leg and causing the hip to hurt. My boyfriend had the same problem and went to a store that videotaped how he ran and recommended a good shoe for him.

Hm. It could be a lot of things. Have you been stretching at least 10 minutes before you run? That could be the problem, or it might be your shoes. I'd have a doctor check it out-- better safe than sorry!! Good luck on your 10k!!

that's a lot of running, and without proper warming up that means serious injuries. the hip pain is most likely due to unbalanced pressure in the hip, that means you were putting more pressure to one side of your body. this can be prevented by switching lanes while running once in a while, not running in the same position. this can also be prevented by running in routes with different terrain [hills, turns, grass]. the pain will usually go away with rest and time, it's nothing serious. good luck.

try to run in the grass as much as possible or on a softer track but not the sidewalk. A better pair of running shoes might help.
