that depends if he wants to break even!
specialities that don't involve after hours call outs are very difficult to get into because lifestyle impacting jobs kinda suck in that way and doctors are figuring that out....

It depends on the physician and how he/she runs their practice.
When I took call, I was home for dinner most nights, except for the call nights, and then I was home the next day.
Many physicians take call from home, and don't have to be away from their families unless called in to see a patient.
You have good days and bad days, and can never tell.
It depends more on how big a group practice is and how call is shared then on the particular specialty. If you re the only orthopedic surgeon in a town, you get called for every broken bone. If you are part of a 15 member group, you'll be on call less often, although your call nights will likely be busy ones.
We have families, and we DO see them and spend time with them. They have to learn to be flexible sometimes, though.

It would depend on the doctor: patient load, travel time, surgeries, etc.
I am sure, though, probably not enough.
