And should end by the year 2002, in which guantanamo should be return to cuba. Why USA still operate there like their own land still until now?? 2007 and counting is guantanamo destined to be americans land forever?

Naval Base Guantanamo Bay is on the front lines of the battle for regional security and protection from drug trafficking and terrorism, and protection for those who attempt to make their way through regional seas in un-seaworthy craft.

The base protects the ability of US Navy and Coast Guard ships to operate in the Caribbean operating area with supplies and support for their operational commitments. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay has become the host to the Detainee Mission of the War on Terrorism following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The base has a unique posture in the Western Hemisphere in that it is the oldest US base outside the continental U.S. and the only one in a country that does not enjoy an open political relationship with the United States.

US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay is leased from Cuba and only mutual agreement or US abandonment of the area can terminate the lease.

The base is likely to remain a naval base for years to come, but it will most likely cease to be a POW camp as well quite soon.

easily, I study someplace that the U. S. government easily will pay Castro something like $a million,214 a year for "hire" on the perpetual hire of the land. He has by no potential cashed one unmarried verify, and because he usurped capacity after claiming he'd have a representative government, the U. S. would not comprehend his potential to kick us off the island, curiously ( and he would not have the potential to do it, besides ). If it replaced into unlawful, why would not he have submitted a criminal protest to the UN, or maybe the Russians on his behalf ? because of the fact each little thing we've accomplished so a techniques HAS been criminal. LOL. So, he can save his unlawful government, and we are going to save the backside on the island.

The Cuban government also required us to sign an agreement that we would militarily intervene in Cuba if it got screwed up. Why haven't we honored that?
