I think it's a stretch to say that California is the most important state in the US. Important to whom? The US is greater than the sum of its parts and every state makes its own contribution. The only state that we can do without is the state of moral decay that crosses the southern border illegally.

And what do you say about the hospitals in LA that are closing or killing more patients than they cure; or the school system which turns out the most uneducated and illiterate pupils in the civilized world; or the tax base that is disappearing to the extent that road work and basic infrastructure is becoming more like Ecuador than the US; or the population that is more content accepting the national and local government dole (and gang rule) than making their city better.
As a Californian, I really wish people wouldn't point to LA (or San Francisco, for that matter) as an example of California. Those cities are more like third-world countries located within California borders.

boy are you full of it. what makes you think California is any more important than any other state. As far as the 6th most powerful economy that is ok...however just think one business WalMart had a 345billion income last year. what was California's...and this company is headquarted in a small state.

We pay allot of taxes and everything here is most expensive ..While allot of Hispanics don't pay anything and ship most of their fortunes to Mexico...I have to admit we do have a Governor that knows finances, but at the cuts and expense of people who need their resources most...
California would do even better if they deported all the law breakers that are here from the south of the border because this is no longer a great place to live..I have been here 46 years and liberalism has killed the the middle class .....Think again Bonzo.....

What's your point? That LA is a big multi-cultural city? We know that. That California has a powerful economy? We know that, too. That there are a lot of Hispanics in LA? No kidding, and so what?

LA is a cesspool. Only way to fix California is to give the cops shoot to kill orders and start cleaning out the gangs and druggies.
