Would you break the 6th commandment to put someone out of misery?

Question

Thou shall not murder?
I ask because I tell my hubby all the time if I get some debiliating disease just put a pillow over my head and kill me.
This question is about assisted sucide sort of but more in the essence of would you actually kill that person to put them out of their misery.

That's a really good question. I know that I feel it's a mercy to allow an animal to be killed rather than suffer. I don't know why I have more difficult with a human. I don't think I could actively murder...however, if the human being was suffering and was being kept alive artificially, I would be capable of terminating the artificial means.

This is the kind of question that I wish we'd see more of in religion and spirituality. I think it's in the true spirit of the actual topic. Good for you!

Well, actually the 6th commandment is; Thou shalt not kill.
Don't take others to hell with you. No Christian should ever consider suicide or murder. God is not a myth! And his commandments are to be upheld! Jesus spoke of the ten commandments and reinforced them in his short, but powerful ministry here in the time he was physically given! If you come down with a great illness, don't tell you hubby to do you in! If he does than he is guilty of being a humanist and not a man of God. Humanism cannot save you from the pits of hell, Some people have the idea that suicide is ok, because I'm saved by God's Grace, BUZZZZZ! No way! If you willing commit sins, knowing that they are wrong! God's Grace Warranty VOID! Folks! If you say you know Jesus and you say he is your Saviour, You are a Liar, and have know relationship with him. We as Christians should not break any of the commandments that God has told us to obey!
You need to read the word of God and Seek Jesus! I will keep you in my prayers.

Why are you asking Christians about points of law in the old covenant religion of Judaism? Furthermore, you claim "it clearly states that the old testament is the holy word and shall never be broken." You are in error here, but even if this were true, then gentile Christians who do not undergo circumcision would not be required to keep that law or comply with it, seeing as that law required circumcision before one came under that law. .

I would definitely want someone to put an end to my suffering, but in all honesty I just don't know if I have it in me to do that to another.

I agree with euthanasia, especially if the afflicted has made their wishes perfectly clear. But from a personal standpoint, I think I lack the courage to do this. This is one of those questions where we can't know how we'd react unless we found ourselves in that situation.

No!! God works wonders, and you could be suffering almost to death one day, but what if the next day they found a cure. No i could not kill anyone, even if they were begging me to. It would take me a lot of soul searching to get through it but euthanasia is not the answer.

I hope it's a choice I never have to make, but if I do, I hope I'm strong enough to avoid being selfish .

If you willingly break the 6th, why stop there? You're already on the road to hell. Why not break the other 9? It only matters if you follow christian beliefs. If not, Pillow away!!

A person's life force comes from God. When God is ready for that person to die, then He will take him. We should do nothing to "send him home" before his time.

um, I probably wouldn't, but if they were in so much misery & pain, i mean like ALOT, and couldn't get better, i would probably take them 2 the hospital and have them like put an overdose of medicine so they could die painlessly in their sleep. :D
