In order to be mature, dont you have to let nature take its course and just live and learn? Many will stay immature for a while this way.

I think the best way to mature is to watch older, wiser, mature adults and learn from them. If someone says that you are doing something foolish and immature you should listen and learn.

Some people never mature. Maturity is more than age. You learn maturity through example. Think of someone you admire. Is that person respected by others for the right reasons? How does that person act in a crisis? Is that person a leader? How does that person behave toward others? Use that person as a role model. Learning can't take place in a vacuum and nature's course is often erratic.

The bible has a verse that says, when I was a child, I thought as a child, when I became an adult, I put away childish thoughts. I don't recall what verse you are referring to but maturity does require an effort on your part to get a glove and get into the game. In order to mature spiritually, you need to take an active part in pursuit of it. Jesus said seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened unto you. You can't sit back and let nature take it's course.
An old Chinese proverb says, " A dragon that sits in shallow waters amuses the frogs." Nature will be content with you sitting and doing nothing to help yourself because the river will flow without you.

Learning to be mature means that we learn from our experiences rather than ignoring them. This means that in every situation, we are humble realizing that we have something to learn. We ask, "What is God trying to teach me by this experience?" Otherwise, if we are immature, we whine and complain because we don't get what we want. When difficult situations arise designed to mature us, we complain to God, "Why did you let this happen? Why do I have to go through this? Do you hate me?" Instead of maturing, we become indignant.

You are correct to say that maturity comes by letting "nature take its course." Obviously, we don't force the experiences or situations to come upon us. The storms just strike. However, we can hinder the growing process. When the lightning strikes, will we learn from it? Or will we complain about it?

The key to learning is humility. We cannot learn unless we are humble enough to take counsel from the teacher. A prideful person rejects counsel. In our heart, we must put God first saying, "God knows all, but I have much to learn."

If you let nature take it's course, you'll only get old!!
How you behave is up to you! I Corinthians 13 says when I was a child.... but then I became a man and put away childish things.
Read I Corinthians 13 for the whole account. It just seems to me, that you don't act like a little kid, do the opposite, even if you don't want to.

if you really wanted to obide by the proverb you could immerse yourself in an environment that causes you to take more responsibility for your actions and question the actions you've made in the past. you can do this by getting a job in a more challenging environment, taking a vacation in a poor country instead of hawaii or disneyland...you could relocate to a less convenient location and then walk to work or school instead of driving or getting a ride. there are many ways you push yourself to become mature.

Not really someone could teach you to be mature tell you what to do and what not to do, but then you do have a choice if you want to listen so I guess no you can't learn.

Learning to be mature is a life process. You learn to be mature in different areas of your life at different times in your life. Life itself teaches us maturity, as well as what we learn from others and how they handle situations in a "mature" manner. Maturing doesn't necessarily mean not acting "childlike" anymore, it merely means to surrender to the situation at hand and don't try to "control" it.

I believe that becoming mature is to change your priorities. Childish people are self-centered. They make decisions to please themselves. Or choose to the easiest thing not the best thing. A mature person makes decisions based on what will be best, not just for themselves, but for those their decisions will impact. This is a choice in itself. When someone makes this decision, they grow up.
