There is no "gay gene". (There was one theory but it's so disputed.)
But, it was a very well formed question! Your thoughts were developed and you made a point!

Biblically and evolutionary I see no reason why homosexuality is wrong being that gays are non-procreational. There are a lot of biological reasons why a species cannot reproduce so much that they over taxes the local ecosystem, unless you consider that man has gotten greedy. Lack of abundant food and the human female looses enough weight to go loose her period which inturn makes her sterile. We can thank anorexia for showing us this. Some women/men are naturally sterile which might be genetic.
Homosexuality may not be genetic, but I do believe they are a product of a mother's hormonal fluctuations. All fetuse start out female and at about six weeks into the pregnancy the female produces a hormone that caused the fetus to change to male, or remain female. Too little or too much can produce a child whose sexual desires are different. Masculine females to feminine males all as a result of what that woman's body is going through. I have always thought of homosexuality as being the third sex or the non-procreational sex.
As a homosexual I can say that society chooses to be unaccepting of us and it is a sad statement about everyone else. Who in their right mind would choose to be part of a group that is so hated that people want to kill them for being different? I think that society feels that as gays we should choose to not have a sexual release with a same sex partner, but as a man, I and others still have the urge to procreate which means the desire to have sex. Look at sexual promiscuity among males and then apply that to males who are gay. That is biology through and though.
So both science and religion can have an affect on homosexuality. I just learned a long time ago that the public forum is not the place to have sex in and I keep my sexuality quiet and I don't try to force my beliefs down anyone.s throats, no pun intended!
As towards gay who want to adopt, you have to consider how female these people are. I have know a great deal of gay men who are so feminine that they have nesting instincts. Will children become gay who are raised by gays, not likely. Once again their sexuality is biological, not social.
Religious scare tactics are what generate hate and intolerance toward people who don't live the celebate life and are gay. Sad commentary!

I know several people who are the offspring of at least one homosexual parent, none of whom used artificial insemination. So I can attest to the fact that if there's a gene (more likely a series of areas come into play, not just one gene) it does get passed down.
If we think of it as one allele, homosexuality can still be an advantage if the homosexual doesn't personally breed even. Imagine a small community with the allele. They carry the allele, but it's recessive and only some end up actually being homosexual. The heterosexuals are expending strength mating and raising children. The homosexuals are not. The community with the allele is gaining a benefit by having some members who are reserving their strength and using it for the benefit of the group. in modern society, think of money as resources. in ancient society it would have been food, land, etc. gay couples can be very successful and not expending money on their own birth kids. They thus have more to spread around to help their family and community. If the family and community are also carrying the allele, this may make it more likely to be passed on. Meanswhile, groups without the allele are all expending their strength/resources and are less likely to succeed. some of the homosexuals are still breeding, mind you, but the offspring is being raised and the resources/strength expended, by the heterosexuals.
Now if the allele were more dominant and all the offspring in the group ended up with it then the community might breed too little and suffer an evolutionary threat. But as long as homosexuality is in the minority it could be an evolutionary advantage. such, in fact, is what we find.
Now, a god could make people gay, theoretically. But for a good god who also hates homosexuality to intentionally make people gay would be a contradiction in terms. So the God who did it would either have to be evil or not hate homosexuality after all.

I think it could well be a response - a natural evolutionary response - to the global overpopulation problem we may soon face. For the most part, gays don't have children of their own; they tend to adopt those already born or never raise a child at all.
Medical technology has gotten to a point that the dieases that could have kept population in check are easily cured or no longer deadly. So some sort of reaction needs to be had.
Homosexuality seems reasonable to me as a new solution.
But don't worry - it doesn't mean end of the world - there are enough heterosexuals out there still breeding.

the gene I believe is from the mother ... it is looking that way at the moment
and no I dont believe the gene would be extinct
I believe it may be needed now more than ever
as there are some theories at the moment suggesting that homosexuality is like population control
homosexuals tend to be born into larger families
so nature takes its course creating people who will not be in a child producing relationship

We've heard all sorts of wild explanations for being gay in this forum...but I think my very favorite has got to be the guy back some months ago who told us about some research being conducted by the government in which fruitflies had their genes tampered with in order to produce gay fruitflies. I think the idea was to prove that homosexuality is genetic...but there was a problem.
It seems the research came to an indecisive halt.
The reason?
Well, the "gay fruitflies" didn't produce any offspring, so it was impossible to tell if they would have passed the "gay gene" on....
Ahhh, well, Boys and Girls...there is a classic example of your tax dollars at work....

No-one is born homosexual, or heterosexual. Sexual orientation develops through early childhood experiences with adults of both sexes. There is no evidence that any genetic factor is involved, in spite of repeated research projects aimed at discovering such a cause.

Im sure Im going to get reported for this one (hopefully not it is the truth) In GENERAL people who have homosexual tendencies actually just have a hormone imbalance its no different then when people have too little seratonin and are depressed or have an imbalance that causes a multitude of psychological disorders. This was just an example homosexuality IS NOT A psychological disorder most of the time (it is only on occasion like rape victims, people who have been molested at a young age ect) It could technically be cured in most cases by hormone treatments, however most just accept who they are

So, if everyone on earth were strictly homosexual what would happen? The entire human race would stop procreating and would die off within a generation or two.
That's why God created man to be with woman. And, as you said, the Bible states that homosexuality is wrong and unnatural.

I'm guessing you forgot about bisexuals. There is so much wrong with your 'process thinking' that I don't even know where to start. Maybe just maybe, homosexuality has a evolutionary purpose you don't understand.

I think it's quite obvious over many years of study that straight people are just as likely to have gay kids as gay parents are to have gay kids, and the other way around. It's more complicated than 'you get it from your mother' or it wouldn't be around. And it's everywhere in nature as well. If it's some sort of mutation, it's a very common one - like left-handedness or color blindness. It doesn't make you incapable of having kids if you want to.
