I would recommend either a chocolate icing like Betty Crocker's whipped frosting in milk chocolate or french chocolate (it is a stronger taste..like dark chocolate), or you could use a white icing like white flavor or vanilla (french is good). Cream cheese is usually for carrot cake..but if you already put the cream cheese on your cake and liked it, it's all good!! :)

That sounds too rich for a devils' food. I think a nice plain white icing or even a sweetened whipped cream goes better with devils food.

Cream cheese would work. Chocolate fudge and coconut-pecan are good, too.
Pretty much any frosting would work, just so long as you like how it tastes :)

Go and get a little piece of cake somewhere, and try a little icing on it!
That way you can try your favorite flavors!
I would recommend chocolate!
