I hear about 10 times a day that Satan is doing this, or Satan is doing that, like Satan is the one who made me look at that pretty girl with lust, and not the animal instinct I have.

Do you really think this Satan can control your thoughts, where in the Bible does Satan control thoughts?

And what makes you think Satan would be interested in making you think such irrelevant thoughts like maybe evolution is real, or I wish I had that guy's car?

Satan is the tempter many times. But we also have our flesh who wants to sin (lust after another).

Satan can't control ones thoughts unless a person has opened a door to this through accult practices (even drug/alcohol use + entrancing music). This (thought control) is demon oppression. Demon oppression just tries to plant lies. Believing the lies can open to demon possession if one acts on them in a cult act. When one actually follows through with a murder (for example) demonic possession occurs.

An example of the desire (demonic) to overcome a person is in the story of Cain & Able. God told Cain that the desire wants to have Cain & Cain had to resist it. These are thoughts to murder Able. Cain chose to listen to this temptation & murdered his brother.

It is written in the bible to cast down all imaginations/thoughts exalting self over the knowledge of God. So, evolution is exalting self above knowledge of the Creator. So, evolution is rooted in demonic thoughts. Except the parts that are correct about evolution. But the devil is skilled in speaking a truth then adding a deception to lead people away from faith in God.

Coveting what others have is a sin against the 10 commandments. So? Satan tempts our flesh to want something our neighbor has. A person shouldn't lust for neighbors things. This is our sin nature to want what others have. So? Then some go from that lust to vandalize the neigbors things. Satans name means destruction & you know it is a temptation because it tempts you to destoy the neigbors car.

Well, originally the belief was that Satan tempted you, he made you want to do bad things but it was your responsibility to tell him, "No!" It sounds as if some perhaps young and less responsible Christians are using Satan as an excuse for their sins rather than an explanation for temptation.

Also consider when Satan was invented. Then, they didn't have the same understanding of nature and instinct and so looked to the only source they could- something evil must be doing this.

Satan is interested in corrupting you and taking your soul to Hell. He has no shame...

It seems awful contradictory to me how in Christianity God is supposed to be all powerful and yet Satan seems to have all this power to control our thoughts and tempt us into lies and turning away from God. Personally I think Satan is a metaphor for the darker side within ourselves however this does not necessarily make it evil just like God, a metaphor for the lighter side within ourselves, does not necessarilly make it good. Lust for that which someone else has can be both good and bad. example: A person sees how wonderfully a rich person is living and finds himself longing for that life. He has two basic options. He can obtain this life by stealing it from others or be inspired to work harder and obtain it through honest means. One instance is "bad" the other "good" however both came from lust which is often considered evil. Another example: A person tries to help others. This can be both good and bad though it is normally considered good. A person without proper training who tries to help one who is seriously injured can end up doing more harm than good. Too much light and one will be burned and blinded, too much dark and one will be frozen and blinded. Thus satan is not necesarilly all evil as good can come from his supposed temptations. And God is not necesarilly all good as bad things can come from his supposed callings.

Can it be that the concept of 'satan' was created to explain what is really just the dark side of a human personality?

Common excuse for murder... "the devil made me do it". What's funny is how many people also murder because "god said so".

I'm gonna say all deities, not good. Yes, I consider the concept of satan to be a deity.

People commit the sins, The devil has no real influence if you cheat on your spouse or commit a crime. The Devil doesn't make anyone do anything.

We all need someone else to blame. Satan only inspires, our own self is more powerful than Satan and is prone to evil.
