This is the second time i have asked My 3yr. old has this disease. He has had it since mothers day, he has been on several antibiotics and is on them still. Gyntomyacine, and oggmintine is what he is currently taken 3times a day oral and IV.he has had 2surgorys and has also had to have a pic line put in. He has been running fever off and on reaching up to 104. The doctors are kinda giving up on him and not knowing what to do next. My question is does anyone have any ideas on how i can help him get better and how i can get him to a childrens hospital with out giong through the ER and having them send us home after telling us to keep going to our primary doc, since he has been under there care. there is a great childrens hospital in tulsa Oklahoma that put in his pic line but after that was done they sent us home. Please if anyone can give me any suggestions we would appreciate it so much

Tularemia is currently on a list of diseases that could potentially be used in a bioterrorist attack. While I know your kid isn't a bioterrorist, tularemia's position on that list makes it a VERY important matter. No doctor or hospital in their right mind would dare ignore an acute case of tularemia in a small child. Your health care provider's behavior just baffles me. I'm also surprised that you haven't been getting calls from the health department.
Gentamicin is supposed to cure tularemia; same with doxycycline. I am not sure how well Augmentin would fare against it, though.
In addition to talking to the Infectious DIsease specialist at the hospital, try calling the Communicable Diseases branch of your local health department for advice.

First off I would like to suggest you get your son referred by your local doctor to the Oklahoma College of Medicine, or better yet get over to a Medical college in Texas.
Treatment for tularemia is streptomycin or gentamicin, although other antibiotics also are effective.
I don't understand why this has not cleared up quickly which is why I think you may think your medical doctors are good but in fact they may not be. Insist your MD refer your child to Tulsa. They can not deny you this.

then go to that hospital there is no one on here who can give you any medical advice as we dont know your child his medical history or his families history
