If you had asked "Some people will believe..." that is absolutely true.

Just look at the "debates" about creationism or homosexuality that takes place on Y!A.

To my mine, the laziest answer is "because it says so in the Bible (or Koran or any other sacred scripture).

Religion ought to be questioned and believers should be ready to seriously debate issues, not just say its a matter of faith. Ultimately individual belief does come down to faith, but a true believer should welcome questions and have questions themselves before that point is reached.

No doubt some will take everything literal, but I feel some part of the Bible were meant to be a metaphor. I think some people who read the Bible also don't take into account the history of the times, or how translations can be a bit skewed.
And you cannot possibly take everything literal because the stories are told more than once, without matching up.
Who was at the Empty Tomb? Is it:
MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
JOH 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Obviously you cannot take this story literal without your brain exploding.

False!! The Bible speaks in Revelation 13 chapter about a Mark of the Beast that the Antichrist Will by aw cause everyone rich and poor to receive i order to buy and sell. Those who refuse this mark now known as a computer micro chip injected under the skin of the right hand will be jailed and sentenced to death unless they receive this implant. Those on the other hand who do receive it will not be able to enter the kingdom of God and eternally damned and separated from God. Do people believe what the Bible says about the future? Let's see..But this Chip is now being placed in animals and the FDA has approved this device already safe for humans. Go to trumpetmin.org and click on Could this be the mark and get this website out to others..

Some people will believe anything in the Bible. Other people even believe things that aren't in the Bible but they think are there. I have heard Shakespeare and Benjamin Franklin quotes attributed to the Bible. However, many people use wisdom and discretion when reading to see the context it was written in.

wow i have a pretty good answer for u actually..my answer is from a similar question that was proposed (some things may not make sense because it is the answer to someone elses question), but here goes:

OMG..don't you all see that having so many different versions of the Bible indicates a corrupt religion? Many authors, editors, revisors, etc. of the Bible only changed/deleted/added verses to appeal to Christians so they would remain faithful (in other words through lies) and to appeal to people who are interested in converting (the same way). Converting through lies and putting in what people WANT to hear is corrupt. For all we know, the all-loving peaceful Bible could have had some ugly verses that were deleted or replaced with more peaceful ones so that Christianity could not look like a culprit or evil religion in the future. CORRUPTION!

An imperfect, flawed religion indicates that it is disqualified as being the true religion, as God is perfect.

When you said, "I think people are seeing the question they want to asnwer, not asnwering what has been asked..."

Well, thats kind of like the Christians changing the Bible into what they want their religion to be like (aka allowing more freedoms, making bad deeds seem less impactful, etc.), not seeking the truth or caring about what is really meant for them.

It is well known that there are numerous editions of the Bible in which many things have been taken out, put back in. Just a little research on the internet will provide you alot of info. It's sad that this should be a holy book when it has been manipulated by men of power.

Wrong, actually. People believe what they want and then find some vague reflection of it in the Bible to validate it. The Bible is mainly used as a reference of excuses, not a source of inspiration.

The same people who believe homosexuality is an abomination would never think of forcing women to live outside of twon while menstruating, but these two concepts are given equal weight in the book they supposedly follow.

I saw once that 31% of Americans believe the Bible in it's most literal form.

With 81% of Americans being Christian, that's over a thrid, or roughly 42% of Christians.

The Bible does have scripture that tell about Satan, the father of lies. We have to rightly divide scripture.
Memory says he follows God but not the Bible. Then that would be a God he made up. The Bible is God's word. He is in infallible, and so is His word. 2Tim 3:16 "All scripture is God-breathed, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."

False. In-depth study is what determines whether something in the Bible is true or not. So far, my study has found no discrepancies.
