I've never seen canola oil in the uk, I've tried sainsbury, asda, aldi and macro and i do use olive oil but you can't use it for everything and i find it ironic that our fields are full of rapeseed but i can't buy the oil in our shops.

As well as oils labelled as 'olive', 'sunflower' etc. the supermarkets also sell 'vegetable oil' - as its name suggests this needs to be oil of vegetable origin, fit for human consumption, but can be from a variety of sources. Because of this it tends to be the cheapest food oil available at the time. In practice in the UK this is normally rapeseed oil, although no guarantee.

Look for Canola oil. It's the same product using what the producers consider a more marketable name.
