Tile paint is really a false economy - it does tend to have a slightly disappointing effect, and doesn't have a long life. It is also more appropriate for the kitchen than the bathroom, as the excessive moisture in the bathroom can affect the finish. But to answer your question, it usually has a more matt appearance.

I am an interior decorator, and you can definitely paint tile with the right products, and they won't even look painted. It will look like new tile.

Don't use the stuff from Home Depot or Lowes. Try a paint store like Sherwin Williams and ask for an enamel paint for ceramic tile. It will dry with a hard shiny surface. However if your tile is physically bumpy/ in bad condition you might want to get a professional painter to look at it.

You should consider painting tile. I have never seen this application turn our very good and eventually the homeowner will be replacing the tile completely.

If you do decide to paint your tile make sure you use an enamel type paint that cleans up with paint thinner not water.

You have to use a rubberized primer first, let dry overnight, Buy a paint made for tile in high gloss for bathrooms, do not use a water base paint,it will run.
This paint should dry in about 3 days before showering.

yes, but i would get a mini roller if you can - it's much better - no drips and gives a better paint effect. i had really gross gray tiles in my bathroom, but couldn't afford to redo them so bought international tile paint. i've had to re-paint three years in, but it looks pretty good for about 2 1/2 years and is much easier and cheaper than replacing the tiles. proffesionals may dissagree, but i think it's worth doing, looks fine and is very cheap - but remember to apply with a roller.

You can now get 'Tile Primer' made by International Paints. Which means you can use any paint over the primer.

Read the can, does it say GLOSS on it? If not then go to a hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot and ask them to double check.
