he should have his license pulled and the car impounded
he isn't very smart or responsible just think what would have happened if he were to get in a wreck with a van with 7 people in it and 2 were killed and 5 hurt bad needing hospitalization and 3 pedestrians were hurt how long would he need to save up to pay the 35 million in damages
or does he not care about them
OK so you got hurt who is going to pay your bill the answer is you are you rich ?? time to dump him he doesn't love you engulf to insure you're well being

8 points and £1,000 fine. Hopefully they send his car to the crusher like the do for no tax disc. Driving without insurance is much worse than driving without tax, IMHO.

Forget the dodgy cover note, it's all computerised now and they'll know in an instant. That could bring a couple of years in prison for Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice and if the judge has a brain, a lifetime ban.

It's wankers like your "mate" that make YOUR and MY insurance so bloody expensive. Why would you POSSIBLY want to help that ****? Find better mates, Mate.

cant get a 'dodgy' covernote as they would check with the company. Depends on whether he had done this before, but you can guarantee on a fine and points on your licence. No way he can get away with it, it's not like speeding or parking. He will just hae to bite the bullet and accept he has been an idiot, and then go out and GET INSURED, a second offence will mean a much heftier fine and a possible driving ban.

In the UK it's usually 8 points on your licence, so this means when your mate finally See's the light and eventually has to buy insurance just like the rest of us.. he will be stung big time...it's known as a, i n 10, which you must declare or you could be had again for technically no insurance by not declaring.

And as regard to a fake cover note..insurance details would be held on a computer database so that's a waste of time..will just get your mate into further trouble :)

the penalty is usually 6 points and a fine if he is a first time offender as for dodgy cover notes never a good idea as the police have access to most insurance data banks

6 - 8 points, plus a hefty fine. Dodgy cover notes don't work, all the records are on a central database. If you try it, you could be done for attempting to pervert the course of justice as well.

Lucky boy, in some areas the car's seized as well.

Why is your mate setting you up by asking such a question? - in effect he is asking you to help him commit a criminal act and you should really report him to the police!

There is no way that he can get away with it - details of the vehicle and permitted drivers are on the MID - the nature of the conviction (IN10) will be probably 6 points, a fine depending on his ability to pay and if he is really unlucky disposal of his car.

He gambled and lost!

nope, the police link up with all insurers so they check your details with them.
Its 3 points, and the car gets taken away, its £120ish (depends where you are) to get it out plus £15ish for every day that its there.
If you leave it two weeks it gets crushed.
Dont try and blag the covernote. It will get you in so much more trouble.
Just pay the fine and move on. If the cars worth it that is.
