I'm a 30 year old financially secure, physically fit, attractive single mother of a 7 year old. Her father is a year younger than I. Generally, I prefer to date men in their mid to late 30's. However, recently I have become enamored by a very handsome divorced father of 4. He's an attorney and has 4 adult children (ages 19-26). I enjoy his company but we have yet to become intimate. I once dated a man 19 years older; the sex was amazing but the relationship didn't work do to his insecurities. Should I try it again?

From a man's prospective. Age is important, but life is more important and love even more important and happiness on the top of the heap. For a guy to be able to keep up with a younger woman I believe says something about how he see's himself. An older man is wiser (it just comes from living, notice I did not say smarter) and will handle situations with much more flare and style.

For me I would try again, as you may wind up as "the one that got away." If that happens you may be lonely and feel sorrow too. Put your best foot forward and find out if you are the "One".

With that, I belive you really know the answer deep down! tictoe

Well checking your question, your both over the age of 18.
As long as that is the case you can do whatever the hell you want.
Give the guy a chance, don't let the past experience with an older man influence your decision making now, he is a different person than that guy.

Love! Is there a barrier? I don't think so.
Most important is both can get along, having same wavelength, sharing lots of mature feeling, chemistry that clicks which lump to communication.
what different does it made for a living in couple that do not have these chemistry, it will died off gradually.
You want to, just go for it [don't try] and remember every paths you take, surely experience obstacles ahead, it is parts of the challenge in life, right.!
Wish you happiness!

After the age of 30 it really doesn't really matter how old either of you are. Just look at Clint Eastwood; his wife is 35 years younger than he is and he's got a 10 year old child.

In my experience, the big thing to watch out for is cultural and social differences. E.g., music he enjoys may not interest you. Music you like he may not like. His idea of a nice night out may not include some of the things you like to do. If you have a lot of friends your own age, he may not fit in, and in his conversation he may make references to things that are foreign to you and your friends. He may prefer to stay home more and go out less often than you. Having said that , I'd say, yes, it can work out and you can be very happy. You just need to be very careful and realistic in considering the consequences of the age difference.

Nothing wrong with the age difference. I'm 52, my g/f is 37 with a 18 y/o son.

Nothing wrong with having a relationship with someone older. As long as you are both consenting adults.go for it. I am 51 - man in my life 42.....no problem there.

That would be something you will have to ponder on for awhile. However, consider this: When you are 45, he will be 69.

Uh, date all you want, sure. But don't ever expose him to your child. Oh, and about getting "intimate": that's for after marriage anyway, right?

Puh-leeze. What are you teaching your 7-year old?
