Im leaving for two days. Should I move the bed, stand it up on its side, to prevent the cats from soiling it? They are pretty good cats, but Ive never left them alone before, so I dont know how they will react. Will it be more stressful to them if the bed is moved? They sleep on this bed and I dont have a problem with them soiling it normally, but I am worried they might get mad or something. What should i do?

Just lay an extra blanket on top. Moving could effect them but they aren't like dogs and have revenge for being left alone!! LOL

I doubt very seriously that you will have any difficulties with them not using the litterbox.

However, moving your bed would make them feel unloved and abandoned if this is where they are accustomed to sleeping. Cats really do not like change.

They will likely sleep most of the time that you are gone and will probably be a little stand-offish when you return because they won't understand why you left them.

The only problem I have had when I've been gone a couple of days is with them throwing up hairballs. I agree with one of the other answers that you should just put plastic or vinyl on the mattress itself and then make the bed up as normal for your cats to sleep where they normally would. Don't shut them out.

Before you actually walk out the door, give them a lot of very special attention and tell them that you love them, etc. This way they know that you love them when you leave and will be less stressed.

If you are using an automatic feeder of some kind, make sure that you start using it long before you leave so that they understand the new equipment isn't going to hurt them.

I always have a neighbor check in on my cats when I'm gone - I just feel better knowing that they are okay while I'm gone. My neighbor has the vet number on my refrigerator in case there is an emergency - after all - pets are family members.

you can place a cheap shower curtain liner under your bed coverings- the crinkling noise usually discourages them from relieving themselves and the vinyl protects. Two days of wetness could ruin a mattress. Don't move the bed- they could decide they can't find the litter pan and out for revenge REALLY mess the place up.
