There are many schools of thought on that: cutting calories, cutting carbs, smaller portions ... You might have to try mixing and matching to find the best solution for you. I hear many people have success with eating several small meals during the day (no portions larger than the size of your fist.) An easy way to cut both calories and carbs would be not to drink soda and eliminate sweets from your diet. If you are not exercising, start out by walking or perhaps swimming. It's a nice, low-impact way of starting a routine. Good luck. Know that you're not alone in wanting to lose weight.

Count calories. Find out how many calories you are supposed to have and only take in 2/3 of that amount. In a month you should lose at least 12 pounds. And if you exercise on top, by mid July you should feel really good about yourself. Good luck.

Eat only when hungry and not more than three times a day with nothing, except water, in between. Take plenty of uncooked food, say 50%, vegetables and fruits. Chew each morsel 32 times to activate ur body system to signal hunger and fullness.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve much more than what u r planning to do and that too in a reasonable period.

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. Drink lots of water, walk, run, or swim an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.
No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar
