Below is a link to a youtube video of a retired construction worker in Michigan who is building his own Stonehenge without any modern machinery. He moves things that weigh far more than 4000 lbs.

In the video he also moves his neighbor's barn by hand.

For those of us who have stood in admiration of the Egyptian pyramids built thousands of years ago, this just might help you understand that even back then, there had to be engineers with a lot of brain power as well as muscle.

I would strongly recommend hiring professionals to do the job.
Depending on the size, material and location of the center of gravity, there is the potential of damaging the statue and/or yourself.
People who already have the equipment and experience may be able to move this quickly enough that it might actually cost less than doing it your self.
If, for example, the statue is low, compact shape of a strong material, (say a granite bench) jacking it up and placing it on pipe rollers would probably work fine, but you will probably need planks over the grass or rather large rollers, plus the jack(s), if you have to buy these materials you might not save anything, but if you already have them, you might give it a try. But if the statue is tall and slender or a relatively weak material (say a standing figure in marble) I, again, recommend professionals.

Your first concern is to fully protect the statue , from damage ..
Build a Frame around the statue using 2x4 lumber
Pack it with Styrofoam and packing blankets, then cover the frame with plywood.
Contact a crane service, they have the ideal crane and operator
For $200 -$300 the crane will move it any where in your yard.
No damage, to home , you , or the statue

No, the American people would be embarrassed if we had a stature of the Dick on the front lawn of the White House. Cheney is making an a$$ of himself by insisting that Obama should apology to him and Bush for taking out the Taliban leaders. His new Pig heart is making him stupid.

take a skid steer loader they are made by bobcat, john deere, new holland an several others an can be rented at various spots. Get one that has a set of forks an slid them under the statue, as long as the skid steer has tires an not tracks it will not hurt your asphalt or yard unless you turn sharp. also make sure to carry it low to the ground as to not tip the loader an to keep a low center of gravity

Probably rent a backhoe and secure the statue to the bucket with a chain that will hold 2 tons. Depending on the backhoe this should be right around there max. weight limit so use common sence and just move it slowly.

um... i think you need a crane... or if you got about 10-20 strong guys (depending on the shape of the statue) and try and carry it. mabye if you could get a really heavy duty trolley sort thing and get it on that.... not sure good luck though
