I disagree with the premise of the question. Certainly monetary success can be achieved without scruples, but what really is success? Is it not being kind to others and helping those less fortunate or is it just who has the most stuff?

If success is being the only person left on this earth because everyone else has killed their opponent due to the lack of morals and ethical values, then you would have achieved success.

However if you mean success in the real world then no your wrong, withouth morals and ethical values you have only anarcky and no success.

You'd have to be an utter idiot to even think that.

Even if your personal worldview is "Me, gimme mine" and "every man for himself", those ARE ethical values. As a personal morality and ethic, I'd have to say they suck, but they are nonetheless values.

You'd have to be on the intellectual par with a carrot to interact with people without some kind of ethical system. You may not choose to judge other people's actions, but you can't interact with humans without judging your own.

Success is about achieving goals. It's not about happy accidents and getting lucky. If you have a goal, you have some kind of moral system that tells you that the goal is worth achieving.

Given that, the real questions should be about what constitutes goals worthy of one's efforts, and what ethics will contribute to their achievement.

You would quickly prove you do. If someone were to stab you in the back or consistently renege on a deal would you deal with them again? No, and by the same measure it would be dealt to you. Looking after your own interest you prove the need for ethical actions.

First, you would need to explain what your definition of success is. Do you want to be a moral human being? Do you want to be an ethical human being? Do you want to be a wealthy human being? Do you want to be a powerful human being?

You don't. Moral and ethical standards are essential. Those who don't have--or respect them--can can be described in a single word: criminals.
