one of the cats actually knocked the whole gerbil tank over- with the glass breaking & everything... last night there was a bang- but my dad just went & checked the dogs not thinkin of my room. but i didnt sleep in my room last night- i slept in the computer room, and this morning when i was on the computer & my cat was like jumping & acting all wierd. & then i looked and ONE of the gerbils comes running and goes under the futon. i caught that one& it has a broken leg, & now the other is Nowher to be found. So.. all the cats r downstairs and all of the doors upstairs are closed... but i still dont know what to do if icant find the other one.. which is another problem because- my gerbils have been together since birth. & its MEAN to jut keep one suffereing & depressed by itself after that.- so.. what would i do with the other one? & how do i catch the loose one?

&& to answer alias smith & jones- they had a LOCKING tank- one MADE for when people have cats.. but i doubt there is something made for them not to knock it over because cats can go anywhere. So.. i kept them together because thee cover locked shut.

Gerbils like small, dark, enclosed spaces such as maybe a boot or other things like that. You could try to set out something like that with some food and check it every so often to see if its in there. Its good that you closed off everything you could. Try and look in places upstairs that it could be like under desks or beds, etc. Hopefully it didn't get downstairs. I wish you luck and I hope you find your gerbil.

Most likely you probally won't ever see the gerbil again, but try leaving food out for it and check the food every night to see if the gerbil is eating it. It works every time my hamsters get loose.

Presuming that one of your cats didn't get your Gerbil, try putting the one you caught in a cage with some food, and see if that will lure the other one back.
