OK, here is my take. You should believe what you feel is right, it is not necessary to believe and follow what everyone else does and believes in. What works for them may not work for you. To be a Christian I think that you have to be true to yourself and to god. That's what really matters.
Although I could be wrong.
PS
I am a non-believer and as you can see I was able to reply with a nice respectful comment

It would be impossible to believe everything in the Bible, because the Old Testament is often contradicted by the New Testament. Eg. - In the Old Testament, God is vengeful, and teaches that if one is wronged, one should take 'An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.' However, in the New Testament, Jesus teaches a peaceful message, one of forgiveness. He preaches that if one is wronged, they should 'turn the other cheek'. To a christian, it is the New Testament teachings that are the most important, as these are the teachings that were given by Christ, the Messiah, not the earlier prophets from different times.
What seems to be interestesting is that many strongly evangelical christians have so much faith and claim to follow every single word of the Bible, and yet contradict the teachings of christ with their preaching and actions. Take the infamous Westboro Baptist Church - they preach a message that anyone who is gay, or sympathetic to gays, or has anything to do with any organisation or nation that may have a slight sympathy with 'sodomists' is going to burn in hell for all eternity. But they must have missed the part of the Bible where Jesus tells us to 'love your neighbour'. They contradict so many of the teachings of Christ that the list is too long to write. If anyone's going to burn in hell, it's them.

Which parts did you want to leave out?
EDIT - Ah, so you are Thomas Jefferson. He liked the message but wanted to ignore the divinity of Christ. Which means you kill the message when you remove the authority from which the messenger speaks.
You will lead a very productive and content life this way. But without believing in the divinity of Jesus Christ, well, you know the rest. You've read it, so there's no need to quote it to you.

Well, is the bible the word of god or not? If you believe it is, then yes, I think thats required, if not, then why exactly are you a Christian?
If you are just going to pick and choose what you believe, then why not look at all sorts of different religions and philosophies for ideas? I guarantee that you will find things you haven't thought of in other religious texts.
Choose freedom of thought, its a big world out there with lots of ideas, don't isolate yourself in one kind of dogma.

Well, that is a tricky question. As I see it you must believe in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for your sins. But, because you believe in Jesus Christ you must do as he commanded and follow him and live by his example and the laws. The chief one being "Love the Lord your God with all your strength and your neighbor as thyself." How do we love God? How do we love our neighbor? We follow the commandments God gave Moses. Some of these laws need to be viewed from the New Testament and Jesus teaching's. The 613 rules the Orthodox Jew follows is not necessary. I have read many of them and some do not even follow the Torah. They have taken what God commanded and added more to it as if it would make them more holy. I do not mean to offend the Jews, but they should not add to something and call it a law. If they wish to do some things as a sacrifice to God that is fine, but they should not make it a mandatory one for all people.
A good example would be a Nazarite. A Jew who forsakes all forms of the grape and never cuts their hair. This is a devotion to God, but not all are called to do this and it is not a commandment not to cut hair or drink.
sorry for the rant, but this has been on my mind lately.

If you are a Christian you will naturally believe the Bible to be true but you will have to study and understand it and that will take quite a long time. The basic criteria for being a Christian is to believe Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead; and then you will be baptized.

It would not be any more possible to believe everything in the bible than to believe that 1+1+1=1. It is equally impossible to believe the god of the o.t. is Holy, loving or righteous or that he is capable of giving anyone the gift of salvation.

Yes. Because if you are Christian you believe that Jesus died for us. You then also believe in His word, because His word is the only source for us to know that He did die for us. And if you believe in one part, you must believe in the rest. God doesn't want you to be a lukewarm believer. It's all or nothing. You are either all for Him, or all against Him.

Yes, if you do not, how do you know what to believe?
Jesus told us that the Old Testament was true (Do you believe Jesus?).
The Holy Ghost confirms that the Bible is correct.
