You picked the wrong game. Should have gotten Resistance: Fall of Man, Virtua Fighter 5, Motor Storm, or Fight Night Round 3 to see what the PS3 is capable of.

If they're not impressed by the PS3 version of Spider-Man 3, they'll be even less impressed by the Wii version. The Wii version is even worse than the PS3 and 360 version.

Spider-Man 3 on the 360 is just about the same as the PS3 version, so they're not going to be impressed by it either.

I forget the particulars, but you will only see the quality difference between , lets say, a Playstation3 vs.Xbox360 if you have an HD tv that runs in1080i and using the HDMI cable instead ofthe RCA cables (red, white, yellow). If played on just a regular tvthen they are kinda the same, even though there re games on the Xbox360 that are more detailed. You'll have to wait a bit for the "better" and "long-anticipated" titles to come out...like Final Fantasy and the like. Right now there aren't many, but it is staring to pick up and hopefully the game library will have increased a lot by the end of this year.

Well, since durability is a concern, make sure you keep the console dust free as much as possible. Make them cover it a few minutes after use with something non-synthetic, like a bandana or something. Vacuum the vents at least once a month. Dust is the #1 killer of PS3s. You don't really need to buy anything extra except maybe another controller. You more than likely just need the 120 GB model that's $299.99. The console comes with cables for hookup to a regular TV. HD TVs with HDMI or Component connection will give the best picture, but it will still look pretty good on a regular TV.

I see your problem. I am not a fan of the ps3 and have a xbox 360 which has alot more games and graphically the same as the ps3 but cheaper. However Spiderman 3 is a rubbish game on either console so this could be one of the reasons they don't play it too often. It was rushed to co-inside with the film and they botched it up. Try getting them motor storm. that does look good and got good reviews along with resistance- fall of man
However i have a 10yr and 9yrs old daughter and have recently purchased a Wii which is so much fun i can't get them off it for myself to play. I can't get my wife off it either and i think your boys and yourself would love it. Just a thought any way

Just because they aren't playing it as much doesn't mean they are not impressed. Maybe it's the game. I rented the Spiderman game for the PS3 and wasn't a big fan of it. The controls aren't that great. Why don't you ask them what they think of it and see why they don't play it as much. I would suggest renting games and letting them try them before buying a game since they aren't cheap. Motorstorm is great and is a lot of fun to play online. Marvel Universe is a lot of fun, Elder Scrolls is probably the best game on the PS3 right now but its rated Mature so not sure if that is right for kids of that age

this has happened my friend. he bought the playstation 3 expecting great things but there just isnt enough games out. for instance there is no popular two player sports game for competitiveness, my advice is give it a while until something really exciting comes out, like metal gear solid or fifa, christmas is coming and sony will not let it pass without releasing some big hitters. your sons will obviously enjoy it more then. hope i helped

Take it back, if you have a receipt it should have the full details if you are not fully satisfied. You could also lie and say there is a fault. But that is cheating and illegal!
You could auction off at eBay.
PS3's can be hard to get hold of in some places so people would buy it. You can put a reserve on it so if the buyer goes under the price you will be satisfied to sell it for, its still yours.
=)

well spidermans a very crappy game, a ps3 is meant for a bit more mature of an audiance, games like resistance and oblivion show off what the system is all about (both are rated M)

If you bought it recently enough you could ask for a full refund if not try selling it on maybe ebay for about 5 or 10 dollars less than you got it for
