try not to take antibiotics as repeatedly taking these for a year with sinus infections gave my mother a disease of hte immune system. I avoid ice cream as this always triggers a sinus infection. I have noticed other things that bring it on are dust, stress, not getting out in the sun enough, not getting enough rest, dairy products etc. I know it seems amateurish but i have found i am able to totally control and 'fix' my sinusitius now by the fact that I've changed my diet and my lifestyle. do a littlebit of researhc into natural therapies too. something will work for you it's just figuring out what. My biggest success is to drink a teaspoon of cider vinegar in water several times a day when i have sinusitis and it clears it up. good luck.

If you are talking about acute, rather than chronic sinusitis, there is little that affects the duration. Antibiotics certainly appear to have little part to play in management.
75% of acute sinus infections will resolve in 2 weeks, whether they are treated or not.
( this also means that no matter what you do 25% last longer than 2 weeks)
Pleanty of fluids, simple analgesia (paracetamol, ibuprofen), steam inhalation and decongestants do however decrease the symptoms.

you can irrigate your sinuses with a salt water solution, you can also take an OTC remedies for your sinus symptoms. Read the label and use one for sinus congestion, headache , or whatever you have. Most go by trial and error

You also need an antibiotic because this is a sinus infection. The infection will not go away with the nasal spray alone this will only help with the symptoms.

Nasal drops are not enough then try getting on an antibiotic.
Also, if your have allergies, may need allegra or something like that. But if it is nasal inflamation we are dealing with, the last suggestion is to get a nasal corticosteroid.

Nasal spray is a real good solution. During cold you should take lots of vitamin C or foods rich in vitamin C. If you experience nasal blockage you can try inhaling steam of boiling water; trust me it really helps.
