........rather than disregarding all the evidence of it being fiction?

God is the author of Sacred Scripture because it has been written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Church accepts as sacred and canonical all of the books of the Old and New Testament, whole and entire, with all their parts.
God chose and inspired certain men who used their own powers in writing. The Spirit showed them what he wanted written and no more. They were still true authors.

Because all that the human author wrote was affirmed by the Spirit, these books teach faithfully and without error what God wanted to reveal for our salvation.

Nevertheless, the Christian faith is not a "religion of the book" but of the living Word of God (Jesus).

I'll tell you what. What evidence is there that the ENTIRE Bible is fiction? You post that, and I'll post evidence that there is for various events and people described in the Bible. There is quite a lot of it.

But every time I post links, people (I won't say who I think it is) thumbs-down it. Why is that? Why is it that even when there's credible evidence, it's ignored? Is it because people don't WANT to know? And if that's the case, why don't they want to know? I'd want to know.

Please, try to disprove the Bible. Go right on ahead. I'm not afraid. I have done my research and what I've found is that although the Bible was never meant as a book of history, it still has people and places that really existed, and events that really happened.

You show me yours, and I'll show you mine.

I am confident that the Bible is true because God communicates with me through it. I ti snot like talking to a friend next door, it goes deeper than that. We really need to seek god for Him to start to communicate with us.

Jesus is historical figure and He confirmed the Bible, the Old Testament part. And all the writers for the New Testament, they are very reliable.

It is fiction to you and it does not make it if you do not let Holy Spirit open your understanding.

Lets face it, if you search hard enough on the web you can find evidence to support or discredit anything. We all do our own research at the end of the day and then we make our choice. May I suggest that when you finally establish that there must be more to life that this, you start with the Bible and a good Alpha course. God Bless.

A real Christian would not attempt to do that. That task is reserved for the so called Christians who do not really understand the basic principles of following the Christ.

The Bible is designed to prove itself and stands alone as a unique book that by its own nature does separate the truth from the other than truth Just read it cover to cover looking for errors one time. Then read it again looking for the same thing and/or to reaffirm these errors and see what happens.
I am sure you will be amazed at the results you will find in the second reading my friend.

Just the point of view of one who has accomplished this and found that no one needs to defend the Bible.

The evidence is massive. Atheists present an incomplete argument with many "missing links" and then begin ridiculing those who believe otherwise. Why are atheists so critical of other peoples beliefs yet are unable to answer the questions of origin for themselves? They say that life does not spontaneously generate one minute and the next minute they say that DNA sprang forth in a sterile and hostile environment sometime in the "unobservable past". They say that matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed but only change forms yet somehow the universe exists. So, if I assert that the universe was created I hear nothing but ridicule from those who can not prove their point. Show me how matter/energy can be created without a Creator! Can you do that? Or, can you show how DNA can be synthesized from its base components? Either one of these demonstrations will compel me to re-evaluate my beliefs. Both would be nice.

When are you going to get around to providing some credible evidence that your existence is true.........?

First of all, where is your evidence that the Bible is false? If you're going to claim that, please provide something to back it up.

Second, a great book to read to see the evidence that the Bible is true is "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. It examines the Bible and Christianity as a whole, with the intention of trying to disprove something within either, but cannot find any holes in either.
