I have a pain that starts in my lower back and shoots into my knee like every five minutes. It is not sciatica...I have sciatic pain all the time...this is different. There is no pain between the back and the knee, just the back, then the knee. From t he knee down my leg is almost twice the size of the other one. It is strange.

I thought about the kidney thing actually...I ruled it out because I have no other s/s of renal failure or disease.
What other nerve could it be? I am not up to date on the anatomy of all the nerves...just the sciatic because that is the one that is ALWAYS pinched in my back. Nursing jobs are rough on a person, but I love every minute of it! lol

I don't know. But maybe you should see a real doctor. Specially if swelling is involved.

It could be pain related to another nerve that runs from the back to the leg and knee area but the only way to be sure of what is going on is to have this evaluated by your dr to see what they say.
