Hi Ariel,

Gosh, I'm so sorry about what is happening with your nephew! The long and short of it is that it all comes down to what will make your nephew feel more powerful and protected. The energy he gives out is what attracts or repels dangers in his life. So, the trick to this is to use his intuition as a guide while using items that are known to have the energies of protection and luck. Here is a great list of herbs, minerals, runes and random items that have worked great for me and my family:

Luck:
-cat whiskers (shed naturally)
-stones with natural holes in them
-nut meg, star anise
-the rune Gebo that looks just like this: X
-the color green
-copal resin

Protection:
-cloves, rosemary, cinnamon
-amber, labradorite, sea salt
-the runes Algiz http://www.mystic-mouse.co.uk/Runes/Algiz.htm Eihwaz http://www.mystic-mouse.co.uk/Runes/Eihwaz.htm and Thurisaz http://www.mystic-mouse.co.uk/Runes/Thurisaz.htm
-the colors black, red and white
-dragons blood resin

To make this as easy as possible, I'll give you a quick tutorial of what to do.
1. First have your nephew pick two of the above colors which feel best to him, then obtain a piece of crafting felt that is one of those colors and some yarn that is the other color.
2. Have him go through your spices and see which ones make him feel most safe and protected.
3. Do the same with the minerals, resins, runes and/or other items.
4. Lay out the felt and have him to place each item he chose into the middle of it with magical intent and purpose (to create a protective talisman)
5. The next thing that would probably be good to do is to place some of the snakeskin with the other items and call in the power of his totem animal the snake (if he thinks it is his familiar, then it is his familiar)
6. Pull the felt up around the protective items and form a small talisman bag with it
7. Tie it up with the colored yarn and make sure it is nice and tight.
8. Trim the felt so that it has at least an inch of material still sticking out from the yarn
9. Take a black sharpy and write the protective or lucky rune/runes of his choice on the front of the bag.
10. Take a large piece of the yarn and tie it tightly around the top of the bag. Make sure that this piece of yarn is long enough to slip over his head once the ends are tied together to form the cord.

Have him wear this when he is awake and keep it by his bedside when he's asleep. As long as he KNOWS in his heart that it will work, then it will be a very effective protective talisman for him. Good luck to you and especially to your nephew. I hope everything works out well for him.

Blessings

P.S. If you don't have all of the different types of stuff I mentioned, just use what you do have, even if it's only one item. It will still be just as effective.

Yes, snakeskin might be very helpful. Try tucking it into his belt if possible. I would also make him a mojo bag, include a bit of turquoise if you can, a little pinch of sage, and a tiny scrap of parchment or paper on which you draw the Eye of Horus. If you need a good copy of that, email me and I can attach a jpg file to my reply. If you don't use the snakeskin any other way, put a little piece of it in the bag as well.

The idea is that the protection comes from within the child. And whatever does not kill him has the effect of making him stronger.

Litha's affect is still here. There is a part of Litha that conserns itself with family, so this is a good time, because families are protective institutions. Also, the Oak King is at his strongest, and he'll protect his family, country and children.

Make your nephew a small God's eye. You can use the snakeskin in it if you need. http://www.gateofheaven.net/gods%20eye%20page%20instruction.htm

The center of the Gods eye represents the protective aspect of divinity, the sticks represent your nephew, and whatever you chose to wrap the sticks in (snakeskin maybe?) wraps around your nephew to protect him. Wrap it tight. The motion of wraping is incredibly hypnotic, and you both can make one.

Cleanse the sticks with something before you use them, then use any protective measures you can think of,... fluids, earth, anything you think is protective. Rub the sticks with them before you wrap. Rub from the tips of the sticks to the center, so the protection goes into the sticks.

You can even make it small enough for him to wear or hide on his person.

This will work. I can feel it.

Good luck.

Thou Art Goddess, Mother Goddess in fact!
Blessed Be!

Sorry for an extremely late re. I've sent you an e-mail (intended to sent 3 h. ago when I saw your q. but the phone company had to mess with the lines & I couldn't get online)
Anyways, I'll send you an aditional e-mail later (make sure you have a photo or a personal item of your nephew) and some ideas what you can do even when he's not with you.

Again, I know this comes in late.... you may have already done what you needed. In any case, best wishes.

The nature of the spell that you use is something that has to be of your own origin, but with regard to actual vessels of the spell - I would take a small bag that he could wear around his neck, and put a picture of him being held by someone that loves him (probably you, as it's your spell and coming out of your need to protect him) and maybe a little bit of snakeskin inside. If you can write on the snakeskin, maybe write a "statement of intent" on it.

This way he'll have something that contains the protective spirit of an animal he feels close to and your loving intentions that he can have on him at all times.

If it was me, I might do some other stuff to more directly address the situation itself. But if you're mostly focused on doing something to protect him, I would go with the above.

All the best,

Laz
