A few months ago my boyfriend decided to bleach his beautiful dark brown hair (well, let his mom do it...), was unhappy with the results so tried to dye it back and got this reddish/light brown color. i want to help him dye it back to as close to his natural color as possible. I've heard we need to buy a color darker than we want it because it will fade, and to wash it with cool water so the color will last longer.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had any suggestions. i would hate for his hair to end up green or something. i guess he can just shave it off if it looks too bad... but he really doesn't want to have to do that if he doesn't have to.
Please help! :]

The best answer is to go to a professional! The results of trying to dye it again may be disastrous! The bleaching process removes a good deal of the natural color, so when you try to recolor it you will not get the color you see on the box. He will also need to do some serious conditioning first as well. These processes are VERY damaging to the hair and at this point really need to be addressed by a professional, they can repair the problem with out doing as much damage as the home coloring kits. You may try talking to someone in a beauty supply store where the professionals buy their products if the cost of a salon is too pricey for you. I hope all turns out well for you both. Good luck and God bless.

I am a professional and have seen a lot of bad home done dye jobs...when unhappy with the results, PLEASE go to a salon and have a pro do it...TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!!! I know it costs more but in the long run, you will be so much happier!!! It can even be unhealthy if you go from product to product if the results are not what expected. NEVER go to extremes (real dark to real light and vice versa). And it will be cheaper to have a pro do it right the first time. Remember this: Your products are not guaranteed unless done by a pro. Bleach products should NEVER be purchased in a drug store, and by the way, the darker colors do NOT necessarily fade the way you want them to. I hope this is helpful, and i hope all turns out well!!!

The best thing to do is talk to a hairdresser, but if you don't want to do that, go a shade darker. Then use a toner, such as a colour mousse. When picking a colour, it has a number - try and go for anything with an 'N' on it, it usually means that it doesn't have any reddish tones it. But you'll definately have to use a toner.

Take him to a saloon to dye his hair. If you dye his hair it might damage his hair or it may fall off. If he dose not mind, go to the baber and shave his head bald. let his natural hair grow back again.

Soon his hair will be back to normal. Any kind of changes might scar him for life. you boy friend might look like a bald freak. follow this steps and you are on the way to new hair. try not to use so much hair spray or gel it will effect too.

hope your boy friend looks better.

In this situation, color choice is tricky. You need the help of a professional hairdresser with lots of experience with this problem. Even so, it will fade a bit, and may need to be redone after a while.

you should really have him go to a salon because if you dye it again it may fall out or really damage his hair expessially b/c it has been bleached. Anytime you bleach your hair you are suppose to go to a salon b/c it can be really harsh. He needs a treatment now and then they can fix it up step by step.

you may dye it dark brown yet you may pre pigmentate it first to place the copper, bronze and crimson tones in first. in case you do not try this it is going to circulate eco-friendly. It appropriate to have this executed professionally for the appropriate effects.
