If you've heard the latest news, you will know that quite a large percentage of drivers have paid somebody else to take the test for them and therefore are in possession of a fraudulently obtained driving license and should not therefore be driving ! ! !

If you have a UK licence, then they are going to check all the information on the licence and compare the photograph to confirm that you are the holder of the licence. They may even radio back to their conrol and ask if there is anything else that they should know, such as if you are on the wanted list. If you present a foreign driving licence, they will check that you have not been in the UK for more than 6(?) months, as you would be required to apply for a UK licence. They certainly note if the licence only permits use of an automatic transmission, and that the car is an automatic, as well. An automatic transmission car can also be driven by holder of a licence that is NOT shown as "automatic" only. However, are those details listed on all foreign licences? If they are not, then the UK police may be unaware of some limitation.

Hello asker,
My first was a motorcycle licence in 1962, than a car licence in 1963, than my first truck licence in 1966, the day before England won the world cup, and all thwe country was cheerin for me, Blimey! I was so thrilled, then I got my big class one licence in 1971, and to top it all, my pilots Licence in 1984, so Yes I have still got them all, but sadly, I have never flown an aeroplane since I passed my wings. Stll an Achievement though, Huh?
and I have a truck driving career of 42 years behind me, and have just retired. what a lovely life on the road it has been. I loved every day of it, and I truly miss it all now. Hope this helps answer your question...Bye Tony M

Looking at the driving standards on the roads, I'd say about 6 or 7.

some but certainly not all.....in the black community in the Midlands it was common practise for one bloke to take the test for another....blacks all looking the same.....still going on with the blacks according to the news today....although they could not mention blacks in the TV report....race relations and all that.
