Maybe you could convince your parents to pay you for doing little jobs around the house, maybe do the same for other family, friends or neighbors. If you get an allowance or money for b-days or anything like that, try your best to save it. Also, I'm sure you could find a nice pomeranian for under $800, maybe do some looking around...search your local classified ads in newspapers or google local pomeranian breeders....just stay away from pet stores (they often get puppies from puppy mills)...make sure you get a healthy pup from good people...maybe even consider a cute little pound puppy if you're not getting it for show purposes or anything like that. Anyway, good luck getting your puppy! :)

Pomeranians live to be as old as you are right now!! I have two, and they are a LOT of work.

If you realllly want a dog, why don't you ask your dad if you can go to the humane society and pick out a dog there? They are usually around $80 to cover the shots and neuter, and then you will have $300 left to buy your new family member some food, a crate, dishes, a harness, a leash, toys, treats, etc? (<-- See what I mean about dogs being a lot of work!?) Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and find an older pomeranian for adoption. That's how I got my second one---much better to save a dog off the streets that needs a good home than to pay so much for one!

You can look on www.petfinder.com and search by zip code for dogs available in your area.

Have you researched Pomeranians? Have you read about what care they need? Or do you just want one because it is cute? I have met people who bought a puppy on influence and then realized that they couldn't take care of it. They had to give it away, but thank God it went to a home that was suited for it. These dogs need special care, especially on the matter with their coat. They can be hyperactive and yappy, and not a good family dog, if the breeder has done something wrong.

Before you try to convince your father about getting a dog, try reading up on them and seeing what it takes to have one. There are many breeds out there, and the pomeranian isn't the only one. There are breeds that suit every person's lifestyle.

Once you get a dog, it is like a child. It needs a dentist and a doctor, food, water, very good care and exercise. Think about it hard. 10-15 years with a dog that wouldn't suit you would be a nightmare.

Please think more about your parents and how they would react to a new family member. Talk with them and go online to discuss different breeds and different possibilities. Pomeranians are high-maintenance dogs, and they're not kidding.

Please think hard about your decision.

Best of Luck!

Poms are cute. I love the coat. But since your dad is rejecting your wish because of money problem, I think you have to save money before buying this dog.

So while you're saving your money, cool down your mind, think that is that you really want this dog, will you be a responsible owner who doesn't throw it away when you are bored with it. And do a research on Poms on Yahoo! Pets and other pets website. The more you know about Poms, the easier you handle with it when you have one later.

Is the money the issue?

Maybe he doesn't want a dog.

You can work for neighbors. Baby sitting, chores, yardwork. I've noticed that old people need help, especially with yard work and are willing to pay kids to do it. Put a flyer up at churches and senior centers.

Good luck.
