It depends on your goals. Walking is a good exercise. Running is better for fat loss and overall conditioning, but is a bit harder on the body. However, many people run for years without problems - with proper warmups, decent well fitting shoes and socks and stretching afterwards, there should be no issue (unless you have very high arches or bunyuns, something like that).
One thing running has over walking is progression. You can progress in running where with walking you're limited on how much you progress because you're limited by speed and time. So, you'll have to determine for yourself what works best for you in the end based on your goals.
Most people find it challenging to bulk up even when they intentionally do so. You won't bulk up at all when only doing cardio, just maybe a little tone in the legs, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Just for an easy start, I would do running and walking. Walking generally is better on your joints. With some experience you should be able to run longer and longer parts of your exercise. You can do a warmup and then run, let's say just for two minutes and then walk again for five minutes and then do a short run again. The whole exercise in the beginning should be around half an hour. Make sure your running part is not too fast. You should be able to talk. When you are out of breath it means you are too fast. Really fast sprinting is fine too but don't expect to do this for an extended time.

Walking is, indeed, a highly effective and safe exercise. The 30-minute distance is also ideal, as you will acheive a total of an hour each day in two manageable half-hour blocks.
Walking has the ability to
(1) help you manage your weight,
(2) alleviate your anxiety and stress,
(3) aid your body's ability to properly process blood sugar.
(4) lower your cholesteral, and
(5) make your sleep more effective and fulfilling.
Try walking to work three days of the week for two weeks, to start with, and see if you don't feel a huge benefit in your stress levels and sleep quality alone.

Walking and running won't bulk you.. they will trim you. Walking is a very good exercise, and in some ways better than running -- less impact on your joints in the back and knees. Walking at a brisk pace is good!

Walking to work is better. but if you have the chance to do the treadmill, do it once a day 30min to 1 hour is good enough, just be consistent, it really helps.
Running vs. walking? Do the walkathon - fast walking, it won't stress your knee joint and burns calories really good. if you want to run, do it on treadmill.

Walking is good for you, it is a form of cardio exercise. As with any exercise, the higher the intensity, the better it is for you (at toning and losing weight). So jogging would give you more results.
In any case, you will not get bulky. To add muscle mass you need to stress the muscles with weights. Walking/jogging will only tone up the existing muscle.

Walking is better than a treadmill as your out in the fresh air.
And think ya saving money as well walking to work.
Go for it or get a push bike, only take 15 mins then.

I used to run on the treadmill but I hurt my leg so I've just started walking really fast on a high incline and it burns pretty much the same calories. So it's entirely up to you which one you choose.

Waking will use calories, however it will not bestow much in the way of cardiovascular advantage. To do this you must exert yourself sufficiently to significantly raise your pulse rate. This must be dome regularly and for a sustained period to get any statistical gain. 20-30 minutes 4-5 times per week is the usual recommendation.

walking is a great form of low intensity exericise. it is recommed for those that are new to exercise or severely overweight to initiate the weight loss process since it's low impact. for those looking to achieve optimum levels of physical fitness or maximum fat loss walking alone will not do it.
