(The 15-year-old son of two doctors performed a filmed Caesarean section birth under his parents' watch in southern India in an apparent bid to gain a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest surgeon.)

It is obvious that he was not qualified to perform the operation. It may be possible to train a monkey to do one operation but that does not make it a surgeon. There are good reasons to make it illegal for unqualified persons to perform medical procedures no matter how well they may have been trained to do that particular procedure. There is a system of standardization and credentialling in place in the medical system for good reasons. After all what would you think about the same kid trying to perform a liver transplant for instance? If one procedure then why not the other?

I personally feel that it is very very unethical. I don't care if both of his parents are doctors. Shame on his parents that all they cared about was seeing their son's name in the Guinness Book of World Records.

unacceptable and unethical, at the very least.

the story sounds like it was all because of the father wanting his son to get in the guiness book of world records as the youngest surgeon. how about arrogant, disrespectful, greedy, and stupid to name a few other adjectives?

I think it is okay if he is a child prodigy and went to medical school early and graduated with a degree in medicine at 15 years of age. But if he has no medical schooling, that is really not good and is unethical...
