They’d have to. I mean they believe in ancient Jewish civilizations in America, Native Americans who are actually a tribe of Israelites all with a complete lack of anything even remotely resembling evidence or proof. And their prophet read his prophecy from out of a hat! Evolution is quite tame compared to all these other beliefs.

Chapter 9: Evolution and Origin of Life

EVOLUTION AND RELIGION CANNOT BEHARMONIZED
ADAM DID NOT EVOLVE FROM LOWER FORM OF LIFE.

Do you think that Adam, this great and important prince, the archangel before the presence of God, was a half-breed monkey? In other words, that he had just developed gradually from the animal kingdom, from some animal form, so that the Lord could put a spirit in him and call him a man? Do you think that? There are people who do believe that. That is why I ask you that question.

Of course, I think those people who hold to the view that man has come up through all these ages from the scum of the sea through billions of years do not believe in Adam. Honestly, I do not know how they can, and I am going to show you that they do not. There are some who attempt to do it but they are inconsistent-absolutely inconsistent, because that doctrine is so incompatible, so utterly out of harmony, with the revelations of the Lord that a man just cannot believe in both.

McConkie never opened a textbook in his life, but knew all about stuff cuz the spirit told him so.

The church doesn't have an official stance, at the moment Mormons are allowed to believe what ever they want regarding this issue.

Some of the higher ups of the church in the past didn't believe in evolution, but it was never doctrine, just opinions.

The churches best advice to its members would be, keep an open mind, for God has not revealed all things yet.

Creationists tend to take the Bible to literally sometimes. There are somethings in the bible that should be taken symbolically rather than literally.

The bible dates adam and eve to about 4-6 thousand years, however I heard that's just symbolic time.

Nope. We don't believe in evolution. I can't figure out how you get to this conclusion.

And I don't believe that Joseph SMith read anything out of a hat. No one really knows how he received the translation, since he was always behind a screen when the translation was taking place. All the scribes who said they knew how it was done all have someting different, so, I doubt seriously that any of them knew.

I heard that the Urim and Thummim, that he received with the plates, would glow when hey were working, and when he wasn't sure, he would put them in a hat and put his face in it, because that was the only way he could tell if they were still glowing.

It's just interesting how people take some stupid little thing, and build SUCH a straw man argument out of it!

mormons are weird, they do not go see "R" rated movies, but my mom read the steamy romance novels. They read harry Potter (Potty mouth) but then so do chirstians (who have never been wiccan, like myself and know the evils of witchcraft) they believe in UFO's, they like the biblical story of the garden, but still teach dawinsim in UT, were 3/4 the state is run by mormons, they claim to know about satan and his demons, but I know more about demons (because of wicca then a mormon) but know nothing about the supernatural.

Mormons do not believe in evolution. They believe that Man just magically appeared on earth one day - just like they believe that God appeared to Joseph (Depending on the version you read).
They also believe, just like other religions, that mankind is about 6000 years old, based on the timeline of the Book of Mormon and the Bible.

I do not see why our belief is any of your business.

So why do you mock our believe.

Don't you believe every one has the right, just like you, to believe or to reject?

Oh, by the way, learn to spell " believe" before you mock people.
