yes, i have a bipolar child and i always take responsibility for his behavior, as does he. i feel like i would be letting him down if i didn't show him what it means to take responsibility for actions, it won't teach him anything if i keep offering excuses for bad behavior.

"blamed"?
I teach my child the meaning of taking responsibility for their actions but as an educator I have seen a lot of kids rebel aganst thier parents up bringing. Some parents are working hard, drop thier kid at school expecting that their moral values will be honored..and the kid ditches school. How is that the parent's fault? And when the parent loose their job taking off work to go down to the school to pick up the kid do we then throw the parent's butt in jail? No, I believe the kid should take the brunt of the punishment, but I tell you, every time I walk past the principL's office at my school some parent is looking for an excuse as to why their precious broke a rule...

It depends on the age of the child and the misbehavior.

Yes. It reflects on your parenting skills. You have got that responsibility towards your child as well as yourselves if not towards the society. If you don't inculcate good values at an early age, regret leisurely at a later stage.
