my cat has recently been hiding away in closets and under tables. is it because of the sudden heat? could he be sick? why is he hiding? when we get him out, he seems scared and tired/weak.

Doesn't sound like the heat is the issue here.

Your cat may be hiding because he is sick. Who of us wants anyone around when we aren't feeling well. Your cat doesn't know what else to. All he's doing is reacting to what ever is bothering him.

You say your cat is weak and tired, but you don't say if he has been eating or how much water he has been drinking.

Have you brought a new pet into your home? That could bring on changes in you cat.

This doesn't sound like normal behavior to me. When you get concerned about your cat's behavior (am sure you are) then it's time for a trip to the vet's office.

If you cat is an out-door cat, he may have injested something toxic. Get your cat to the vet. and stop trying to guess what's wrong with your cat.

if he's tired or weak yea it could be the heat but the best bet is have it checked out by the vet they will tell you if it's anything to worry about or not

cat's really don't like to be picked up a lot .

We have a cat too and while he is affectionate he doesn't like to be picked up a lot

Cats sleep a lot too

But just to be on the safe side best to err on the side of caution and have your cat checked out

How old is your cat? I've heard before that sometimes when cats know that it is their time to go, they will go hide so they can be by themselves to go in peace. I know that probably sounds stupid and I don't want to scare you either but I've seen it happen before. Either way, I would schedule an appointment with your vet to get him checked out.
