Where are some nice places in Jersey that would be ideal for a day trip or date (besides the obvious Jersey Shore)? For example, a cute swimming hole you could have a picnic at. Thanks!

Try Lambertville, NJ/ NewHope, Pa. It's on the Delaware River, you can go tubing. Lambertville/New Hope has a lot of funky stores and good restaurants, art galleries, antiques and such.

The Passaic Falls great place to see
Hoboken Terminal the railroad station.
Liberty State park, also a restored railroad terminal and exhibits.
High Point State Park in Sussex County
Go to Belevedere in Warren County at the edge of the state on Route 80. There is a company that rents inner tubes and you can ride the Delaware River to cool off.

Aslo -- Ringwood State Park, Lower Greenwood Lake, Passaic County. Cape May is a looong drive -- not really good for a day trip.
