I grew up on a farm. I went barefoot until the first snow. I go barefoot around my house and consider shoes an evil intrusion into my comfortable life.
I would and did go barefoot at my work whenever possible. Only when it was necessary to look like a civilized person did I slip on a pair of shoes. Then I took them off at the first opportunity.
Going barefoot is freedom. It is joy to the world. It is feeling the earth beneath your feet and the Heavens up above. It is wonderful. I recommend it for good health, great posture, and splayed toes.

Me, and it's what I have been doing for the past ten years. Including the job interview. I'm working at a history theme park and I wear a period costume too, but I've also been barefoot at other jobs, an Internet helpdesk & a few temp jobs in winter (my current job is from early spring until late fall, we're closed to the general public in winter). I've never cut my foot, even though we have loads of flint laying around in the prehistoric section of the park -and freshly knapped flint is at least as sharp as freshly broken glass. When you're habitually barefoot, feet are much stronger than most people who always go shod would believe. Just don't shuffle your feet and you won't get cut.

Where I used to work (A calling center - yes, I was a pesky tele-marketer, SORRY folks
:-), I DID go barefoot, while working, going for a break, out to lunch, etc. I arrived barefoot and left barefoot. No one gave me ANY problems. It weas really nice to be able to do that. SOmetimes I would be in business casual but barefoot.

I would, and do. I'm always barefoot. I took my shoes off a year ago and haven't missed them one bit. My feet are stronger and healthier and I'm more comfortable and happy. I'll be barefoot now for the rest of my life.

I would go to work in flip flops if allowed but I am a nurse, so that would just be gross because I get some nasty things on my shoes.
