I already have a tattoo on my right arm of a bull skull and I'm 17. I want another one and ain't got money now for it and I want to give myself a homeade tattoo. I'm thinkin that in the future when I have money for another tattoo I can get my homemade tattoo covered up with a professional one if I don't like it. What do ya'll think?

I don't think that is a very wise decision. Why not just save up the money for a tattoo artist to do it? :]

LIke everyone else i think that it is a dumb idea. I like most everyone here i am sure like having money and most of the time would prefer to pay less money for something. However a tattoo is one exception to this rule. I would rather pay more money to be assured that i am getting a nice tattoo. Unless you really knew what you were doing and felt that you could make a decent tattoo i would not even think about doing what you are if i were you. Not to mention there are all the other factors that other posters have already mentioned. Just wait why not, wait till you can make sure you have the perfect tattoo instead of doing one yourself or having to have a shitty one covered up cause you decided to tattoo yourself on a drunken impulse. (which by the way if you get a cover up the options to what the artist can do will be somewhat limited

Not a good idea, unless you have experience giving tattoos there might be a lot of problems. How hard you push down with the tattoo gun has an effect on the tattoo. There is also always a chance that there wont be anything that is able to cover up your home made tattoo when the time comes.

You also have to think that it is almost 100% chance that the home made tattoo wont turn out how you want it to look.

Trust me tattooing is harder than you may think.

Something you could do is call around to local tattoo shops, you might be able to find a tattoo apprentice willing to give you a tattoo for free for practice.

Its worth a shot

That's rediculous. You'll have scar tissue, which will make the cover-up less effective. Plus, not all tattoos CAN be covered up.

You'd rather start out with a bad looking tattoo, and then hope and pray you can turn it into a good tattoo, instead of just waiting and getting a good tattoo in the first place? That makes no sense.

I did that same thing. Homemade tattoos look like ****. Now i've got a blob on my ankle that used to be a chicken. I have to save to cover it up. Take it from somebody who has been bored enough to do this not once, twice, but 4 dang times. Just wait and save up the money. It'll be better in the long run.

Come On Now...Your making the hair
on the back of my neck stand up.
There has to be a hundred and one
really good reasons not to put scratch
on your body anywhere. The chance of
infection is just one. Have you ever
seen a really bad tattoo.????Or one
that has gotten infected????Give it
some thought. Ink Is For Life............
Go to a good shop and talk it over
with the artist. Get a quote and have him
draw up something you can live with.

Oh come on. Dont give yourself a tattoo. Unclean, it'll come out bad and then on top of it you'll have to pay money anyway to cover it up. Just wait until you have the money and get it done right.

i think a professional tattoo would be much better. just save you money and when your 18 get some more or ask for money for your birthday so you can afford a real tattoo.

this is a joke question ,right ?ok. just in case it isn't.
cover ups if done with care and a lot of thought on the part of the artist can look pretty cool, but we are not magicians, some homemade tats are pretty hard to cover. save your space for something better pleeeeez

In the long run it will cost you more money to hide the homemade tat. Depending on what you do, it may be very difficult to cover yours up.

Wait, save your money and go for the good one!
