Lets take the science view and the spiritual view.
The science view:
The human body is a living creature until the time the heart keeps circulating the blood. Death is when there is zero blood pressure and all vital organs of the body have stopped functioning. The body starts decomposing right away, if not preserved in ice or embalmed. Science does not hold the ’soul’ theory to be true.
The Spiritual view:
In almost all cultures of the world, the body and soul connection is deeply rooted. Once the body stops functioning, the soul is released. Most cultures believe soul is eternal. The body is handed over to the elements by the well wishers of the deceased. Some bury the body in ground, where it integrates with the soil; some burn the body wherein it integrates with air and soil; while some also leave the body for natural scavengers to clean it up. Thence, the soul takes another bodily form, whether human or otherwise.
Thus from both viewpoints, when we die our bodies recycle. As for the souls, if there are, is open to interpretation.

Yes, I think so, everyone always forgets that we are as much emptiness as we are matter. What is order and structure except the right shaped holes in all the right places? The Buddhist belief is that your core attachment to consciousness causes you to come back as another human, or even animal, depending on your intent when you die.
The question you should ask is: if we are going around and around again and again, does it ever stop? Without getting too much into religion (you said organized religion and Buddhism isn't really organized) the Buddha said that we all have wept oceans of tears over the aeons of suffering.
But I hear you prove it to yourself by getting good at meditation, specifically breath (insight) meditation. You enter deep states of joy and bliss called "jhanas" where you let go of everything to the point that the "doer" side of you is absent and the "knower" is present. When you come out hours later, you are supposed to be able to recall long past memories of childhood and previous lives. It's worth a shot anyways, and it can't hurt as people who meditate get insurance breaks, are happier, have better memory, and you build glial cells in your brain (thickening the neocortex). Considering glial cells are what were abnormally high in Einsteins brain, I don't think it's a bad thing to have more ^_^
I'll link to a sutra study (MP3 analysis of The Anapanasati Sutta - Mindfulness of Breathing) where Ajahn Brahm (a Cambridge University PhD in theoretical physics-gone-Buddhist monk....you know, where Stephen Hawking hangs out?) goes over the technique in the sutra, explaining the steps and levels of meditation. Good luck, hope this wasn't preachy!

Physically our bodies break down to the basic atomic components and are recycled back into the natural physical cycle of life. Our reality, our soul, however, at death is released from its temporary attachment to our physical body and soars, metaphorically speaking, like the bird released from the broken cage into the limitless space. It is uniquely us and does not transfer into another physical existence. It moves toward the source of all being. The soul's experience at the point of death is for another discussion. Of course this is figurative, not literal. If we don't believe that the human is more than a mere physical shell or that there is an aspect of the human experience/existence that survives the death of the body, this will make absolutely no sense.

When you die you go to where ever you think you belong Heaven, Hell, Cloud 9, the VOID, until you realize that it's static and/or repetitive and just another illusion. It will fade away and you will meet with a more enlightened version of your self (Oversoul?) Who goes over your life with you. Together you discuss what you did right and what you did wrong (in working towards becoming more enlightened ) Together you discuss if you need another life or three and if so how you wish to proceed on your path, who or what you need to be to learn the lessons you still need to learn. Together you pick your next body and where it will come into being. If you choose you can take some R&R first in the higher plains of existence though. There's no rush. You have all of eternity.

Sure, some people think that. We do 'recycle' back into the ground once we die...fact. But not many people believe in the whole human-to-human 'recycling'. But i would advise you not to make the remark about how you would rather not hear Christian view points. I'm sorry but...your idea isn't that much more far fetched than ours...

Just biblical answer not Christan or anything just straight from the bible. I don't know how else to state it. Eccl 9:5 For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not anything.
and Eccl 9:6 also their love, their hatred and their envy have now perished ; nevermore will they have a share in ANYTHING done under the sun.
they don't recycle they don't have a portion of anything done under the sun. and they don't know anything else either so no souls running around somewhere because that would be they have some sort of consciousness.

To bad. The flesh recycles obviously. the soul is full grown and doesn't ever return to the body the soul is what you are. there are spirits which are separate entity's which entwine there selves into the soul. The Holy spirit is a good guy who helps us in our life's and protects us. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. However there are earthly spirits which entwine there self's into people souls who Dabble into the occult read Deuteronomy for more info. These earthly spirits are lien deceiving spirits which are of Satan and try to dissuade people from the truth in Christ and these spirits are what give false delusions of reincarnation and such. It is simple if you ask m when someone spells out the truth for you. You should have no excuse know.

When we come back as another human being, that is reincarnation. That is, God putting our soul to be born again as another person.
Did you know that we are made up of four things? Physical body, water, air, and spirit. The physical body is from the soil. So when we die, our physical body will go back to the soil. From dust to dust and not from dust to ashes. The water in our physical body will go back to like water. The air will go back to like air that is why our last breath is exhalation. We return the air in our body to our surroundings. The spirit in our body which made our physical body to move will go back to where it came from. From where? From God. That is the breath of life He breathed into our inanimate physical body when it was being formed.
When our spirit returns to God as a living soul, it will be judged whether it will be reborn into another human being or not. That is why we should not touch a person who just died for one hour; his soul is in communion with God. If he will not be reincarnated, then he will just wait for Judgment Day when he will be handed down his sentence whether he will live in the kingdom of God in Heaven or be thrown into Hell to suffer there—forever.
FYI, this time, we will not be reincarnated anymore. This is our last incarnation. Why? Because God is reducing the number of people in this world. Have you noticed that the morality is declining? If you are good now and will be reincarnated, you may become bad instead of becoming better. So why reincarnate?
So before we depart from this world, which we call dying, let us change our wrong beliefs, our wrong and evil ways, and return our spirit to God as clean as when He gave this to us. Let us know Him and follow His commandments. Let us search for the true God and not any gods.

Its a nice thought and I bet it makes people feel all fuzzy inside but in reality no. Thats just so far fetched and theres absolutely no evidence to back that up. It sounds like a baseless belief to cope or cover up an ugly reality of mortality.

As I understand it, coming back as a human is reincarnation. The believe in coming back as something other than human (or starting as something other than human) is transmigration, if I'm remembering correctly.
I do believe in reincarnation, I'm not sure I understand the difference between that and recycling.
