Most of us Atheists (but not all) are ex-Christian, so we have a better knowlege of Christian beliefs, so are better qualified to debate such beliefs with a Christian than say a Wicca.
Perhaps an ex-Wicca Atheist would debate with Wiccas.
Also I don't see many Wiccas, Hindus, Muslims etc directing insulting or hateful questions at Atheists, whereas there are quite a few Christians on this site who seem to have made it their lifes mission to attack Atheists (not ALL Christians, there are quite a few nice ones!!)
As an ex-Christian Atheist, I know what Christians believe, and when they state certain things, I see the error in some of their beliefs, and I point these errors out. Also I dislike being attacked as an Atheist by some of the supposed Christians...it gets irritating.
I do wish all the hatefullness on R & S would stop. The Atheist vs. Christian war has got rather nasty and childish. It's turned into a "This is my yard, you can't play here and I'm telling on you" kind of mentality, which serves no useful purpose.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone to smile, be happy and have a nice day...be nice to others and it DOES come back to you!
Cheers :)
EDIT: What the heck was the thumbs down for, or is someone just nicely illustrating what I mean about childishness...

What gives you the idea Atheists does not like Christianity? Atheists are just people who do not believe the existence of supreme being /beings. They neither like nor dislike any religions, they just have their disbelief of the existence of the thing call god.
Frankly speaking, if an hindu say their god is true and try to push down their god as a matter of fact, I am quite sure any atheist will disagree with them will debate with him.

Atheists don't believe in a higher power that created the earth and those on it, therefore they have no religion. Why they are on this message board is beyond me - why answer and posts questions on religion if they have NONE? Also, true atheists don't hate any religion. They simply don't believe in one so they might see someone that does not as down to earth as they are. Those that HATE religions are usually angered with those religions in some form or fashion and are unable to get over it. They "rebel" against said religion, develop a hatred for it, and go about preaching their beliefs. Once a person has become atheist, he/she doesn't care about religion, doesn't try to convert anyone, and doesn't try to put anyone down for what they believe in.

Its not so much about the problems I have with Christianity. There are many good points to Christianity.
But the biggest problem I have about Christianity are some of the people who practice, or say they practice, this religion. Its the only religion I know that tries to change me, condemn me, or preach to me.
They are the only ones who accost me in post offices, at my home, on TV, and on radio. They don't let me live my life according to my convictions or even hear me out when I provide alternate theories to what is in their holy book.
They want to teach their version of the origin of the universe by advocating their "intelligent design", in the public school system, calling it "only fair".
They threaten to make their religion mandatory in the US by use of prayer in the public school systems, at public meetings, and the court system. The want their 10 Commandments outside and inside court buildings, and elsewhere.
Not to mention the fact that many of them murder and attack gays, atheists, and people of other religions. And then complain how they are being persecuted.
If anyone else from another religion would do the same, then I would have the same feelings against them. But they don't.

Since those other religions are in a minority where I live, and therefore I have not had the experience of them trying to proselytize to me, I really have no problem with them. They also, as far as I can tell, don't try to legislate their faiths here. On Y!A they don't spend their time asking questions like "Why are Atheists idiots?" and "Why would you choose Hell over Jesus?" which get irritating rather quickly. That said, I don't believe in their versions of a deity (or deities) either.

What would you consider a true atheist? I really do not dislike any religion. I dislike some believers.
I do not believe in the christian god or any god for that matter, be that god hindi, muslim, wiccan, etc. As an atheist, I do not believe in any god/s.
I think the debate between atheists and christians on this forum is partly because the USA is heavily populated by christians. Also, it seems that christians are the predominant god-believers that insist on converting atheists to their beliefs (they call this activity "witnessing"). Hence the debate.
I really have not experienced any wiccan, hindu or buddhist trying to convert others to their beliefs. Have you?

I don't really have much use for any religion. Christians just get my goat because they try to pass laws to make the world agree with them.
I have many Wiccan friends, and I have attended several public events. I find the theatrics a bit corny, but they were generally nice people who don't force people to think any way.
Scientology creeps me out.

When wiccans and hindus are preaching intolerance and killing off jews by the millions (christians and muslims) or blowing themselves up so they can get into heaven with a total wreckless disregard for the group of children nearby(muslims), then they will be ridiculed as well.

For Americans, christianity is clearly the worst, as it has the worst effect on non-christians. Around the world, islam is at least as bad, and typically worse, if that is at all possible.
