I am not sure about your present country of residence. If you are in India and willing to move North America then you should get ECNR stamped on your passport before leaving.

Recently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India have been simplified the criteria for ECNR status. Submit your passport along with attested copy of your educational certificates (matriculation or above) and you will get back your passport on the same or next day.

Good luck

u will have to obtain a work permit ( may be it is called H1 visa ) to work in US and once u have a H1 visa ecnr stamp is of no value. even otherwise if u want to visit usa on a visit visa ecrnr stamp is not required ( also for europe uk etc

Look at your ECR stamp on your Indian passport; it says it all: ECR required for all countries EXCEPT countries in North america, Europe, etc.....);
So, you should have no problems, I believe.
All the best!
