I'm not sure of any websites off the top of my head, but I know the Epilepsy society has some pretty good info. DON'T TRUST WIKIPEDIA!!! They do not check their sources . . . anybody can post anything!!!

First you need to know what kind of Epilepsy he has . . . if he has grand mal seizures . . .
Basically the most important thing for you to do if you're with him when he has a seizure is to time it. Timing the seizure is important because if it lasts for more than 5 minutes, his brain may have been depleted of too much oxygen and he'll have to go to the hospital.
Other than that, the best advice I can give you is to make him comfortable without trying to restrict his movement. If he's wearing a tie or a collared shirt, loosen it. If he's on a hard surface (i.e. the floor or the ground) try and put something soft under his head.
DO NOT try to put anything in his mouth. Swallowing or biting off your tongue is a myth; however, a person having a seizure can bite through whatever you put in their mouth (including your fingers) . . . I did that the first time my sister had a seizure, I had tooth marks and I couldn't move my fingers for days.
Typically there is no need to take someone who has been diagnosed with Epilepsy to the ER after a seizure. Their doctor should be called and notified, in which case they may want to see the patient; however unless the person is flying, in water (swimming/bathing), alone, gets injured while falling or unless the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, going to the ER is unnecessary. It is extremely common for the person to be completely exhausted and need to sleep for hours in order to recuperate.
Trust me; I understand being with someone for the first time when they're having a seizure is scary! I hope you find this information helpful!

Try wikipedia. It really depends on what kind of epilepsy he has.

As long as he takes his meds and never miss a beat, it's fine. Also, try to know what triggers it. Sometimes, it could be watching a movie or just in front of a computer monitor. Then prevent them. It's a life- long disease. Also, there are alot of different seizures (grand mal, petit mal, tonic- clonic jerks, etc). In any case, he needs to be injected (straight in the vein) by a drug Diazepam. 5mg IV should stop the seizure. Then oxygen.. Then he might need a CT scan of the brain to make sure nothing is damaged. All of these are best done by a trained paramedic or medical practitioner.

You need to know if he has grande mal seizures or petit mal seizures. the grande mal seizures are when people actually collapse and shake violently. petit mal can be as little as blacking out for a second or two and just staring into space. Ask him what he would like you to do; these things are always best if you have talked it out with him first. Let him know that you want to be informed so that neither of you get hurt inadvertently. Usually people are rather informed about any condition they might have. Usually the best thing to do is to not do anything because there isn't much of anything you can do for people who are having seizures but be present and make sure that if they hurt themselves during the seizure you call 911 and get a professional to help them.

my significant other has epilepsy. It is totally controlled with medications. we have actually only experienced them when the disease first manifisted itself. an aura (feeling of one coming on) was experienced as well as a few seconds of studdering. During the seizure my personal experience was/is to get a cold towel (as cold as possible to get in a hurry) and start rubbing all over. It seems to make it stop immediately. Now after it was over, expect him to sleep and be very lethargic for a good while. Actually wherever it happens if it is safe, leave him there until he wakes up if at all feasible.

Find out first if he has any advanced warning of a seizure comming on, in that case, he may not have enough time to tel someone know but has enough time to sit down to prevent a fall. If he has a seizure, all you can do is stand by and remove anything he may hurt himself on and wait till its over. Then help him to a comfortable chair and wait till he is really over it.
